Go To

An army captain has been framed for the theft of Iraqi antiquities, gold.

Tropes:

  • Absence of Evidence: All of John's fingerprints on the stolen artifacts are left handed, which clues Neal and Peter in on them having been planted.
  • Delivery Guy Infiltration: A variant; Neal gets past the guy guarding the news station entrance by carrying a bunch of coffee cups and asking the guy to take his key card from his pants pocket, to which he just lets Neal pass.
  • "Eureka!" Moment: Neal realizes that someone took John drinking to take his fingerprints when he and Peter go for a drink and he's realizes that Peter has touched the bottle only with his right hand the whole time, which coincides with the fact that there are only left handed fingerprints on the stolen artifacts.
  • Frame-Up: It turns out that John really isn’t guilty but has been framed by Patrick Aimes and Alisha Teagan.
  • Improvised Lockpick: Neal uses a paperclip to pick the lock on Alisha's drawer.
  • Mistaken for Cheating: When Elizabeth shows up with Dana at the White Collar division, Jones thinks that Dana is Peter’s secret girlfriend and that they are there to confront Peter:
Jones: You know, a buddy of mine, he always kept a separate cell phone. One for the wife, one for the girlfriend. Well, helps avoid this kind of crossover.
  • Mistaken for Flirting: Neal assumes that Lauren is flirting with him when she tells him why she asked to be reassigned to the NYC White Collar Division:
Lauren: I wasn't gonna pass a chance to work with someone I've admired since college.
Neal: Hey, play your cards right, we'll make a case or two.
Lauren: Oh, honey. I was talking about Agent Burke.
  • Revealing Cover Up: Attempting to direct the feds to their victim is what leads Peter and Neal to the bad guys.
  • The Knights Who Say "Squee!": Neal assumes Lauren asked to be reassigned to have the chance to work with him, since he was part of her studies, but the person she is actually excited to work with is Peter.
  • Throat-Slitting Gesture: Trying to stop Mozzie from talking when he shows up at Neal’s appartment with Peter being there too, Neal makes a throat-cutting gesture at him but Mozzie initially doesn't get it, revealing to Peter that he is Neal’s mystery friend.
  • "X" Marks the Spot: The "x" of "Bordeaux" marks a location on the map on the label of the the bottle that Kate left behind.
