The Bears try to protect Charlie from Ranger Tabes, who has been looking for the eccentric Sasquatch ever since she was a kid.

- Always Night: Downplayed: excluding a flashback, the entire episode takes place in the middle of the night.
- Chekhov's Gun: The flares, funnily enough.
- Gosh Dang It to Heck!: After Charlie escapes, Tabes rants "This is a bunch of... sassafras!"
- Idiot Ball: In her quest to find Charlie, Ranger Tabes accidentally sets the roof of the bears' house on fire with one of her flare gun traps. In her desperation to catch Charlie, she goes up on the roof and gets trapped by the flames, passing out and nearly getting burned alive.
- Moby Schtick: Tabes' story with Charlie is basically a G-rated Moby-Dick in the woods.
- Oh, Crap!: The bears get a major case of this when they realize the creature Tabes is hunting is Charlie.
- Pet the Dog: When she was a kid, Charlie took the time to check up on Tabes when she got scraped up trying to follow him.
- When Ranger Tabes gets a good look at Charlie after he saved her life from the fire, she gives him a respectful nod and doesn't approach him.
- Real After All: Played With. We already know that Charlie is real, but Tabes doesn't, and the final scene of her encountering him across a lake in the dark plays out like the straighter version of this trope.
- So Much for Stealth: While hiding with Grizz in the bushes as Tabes is seconds away from finding them, Charlies chooses that moment to start trying to crunch on cheesy poofs.
- String Theory: Ranger Tabes has a wall full of photographs and other evidence she's collected while trying to track Charlie.
- Sure, Let's Go with That: The paramedics assume the bears saved Tabes from the fire. It takes some prompting for Panda to "agree".
- Sweet and Sour Grapes: After Tabes finally gives up on her search for Charlie, she gets to see him up close for real and expresses gratitude to him for saving her life.
- We Need a Distraction: Panda and Ice Bear try various means to keep Ranger Tabes busy while Grizz hides Charlie.
- What You Are in the Dark: The episode ends with Tabes getting a clear look at Charlie... and leaving him be.
