After finding a bedazzled jean jacket in a dumpster, the bears fight over who gets to wear the "lucky" garment.

Tropes:

  • Apple of Discord: The bears start to argue over the jean jacket when they realize its power. They decide to get rid of it when Panda gets smacked in the cheek during their wrestling over it.
  • Book Ends: The episode starts with the bears finding the jacket in the dumpster. It ends with them putting it back... and then three humans find it.
    • Similarly, the plot is kicked off and ultimately resolved thanks to the act of dumpster diving.
  • Brick Joke: The "Be Funky and Fresh" sheet music, which kicked off the plot by being blown into the dumpster, is blown back into Ice Bear and Panda's possession at the end after Grizz dives into the dumpster.
  • Clingy MacGuffin: No matter how many times the bears try to get rid of the jean jacket, it always returns.
  • Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: As the bears walk over to the dumpster, they are tempted with the jacket's good luck. Vending machines discharge their goods as they pass by, and a man offers free cupcakes on the street.
  • Cry into Chest: Panda bursts into tears and cries on Ice Bear in response to Grizz's Disney Death.
  • Disney Death: Grizz has one when the jacket "chooses" him and he decides to perform a Heroic Sacrifice.
  • The GM Is a Cheating Bastard: The Decision-Machine, a spinner that is roughly 75% Grizz, 17% Pan, and 8% Ice. Gee, wonder who it's meant to favor...
Grizz: Ha ha! Whoo! Probability, am I right?
  • Good Luck Charm: The jean jacket leads the bears to all sorts of good fortune, even as they desperately try to rid themselves of it.
  • Half Way Plot Switch: From an Apple of Discord story to a The Cat Came Back tale the moment they get free pizza.
  • Here We Go Again!: Right after the bears return the jacket to the dumpster where they found it, a group of human friends find it.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Parodied: The jacket "chooses" Grizz by getting blown onto him, and he "sacrifices" himself by going into the dumpster to get rid of it. Panda and Ice Bear treat this the same way as if he was actually going to die.
  • Informed Attribute: The jacket's Apple of Discord properties. Although Ice Bear running off with it starts the three physically fighting, most of the initial conflict comes from Grizz's inability to share. His "Decision-Machine" suggests he's not the most give-and-take kind of person.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Let's be real, it's kinda hard to tell if the jacket was actually lucky or not... although, once you factor in the The Cat Came Back aspect (especially during the climax)...
  • My God, What Have I Done?: Grizz realizes that the jacket is tearing them apart when in the middle of fighting for it they slap Panda in the face.
  • Panthera Awesome: The jean jacket has a picture of a roaring tiger in the back.
  • Plague of Good Fortune: The jacket grants more extravagant good luck as the episode progresses. from making the crosswalk signal turn green just as the they approach to a couple dozen dance lesson coupons blowing in through the window, making it harder and harder for the bears to get rid of it.
  • Tempting Fate: The last words of the episode?
Red Hoodie Guy: (to his friends) We're the best of friends, man. Nothing will ever come between us. (notices the jacket on the ground) Huh? Woah, sweet jacket...
  • Whole-Plot Reference: A jacket with powerful abilities and a corrupting influence that must be destroyed by returning it to where it came... sounds a lot like The Lord of the Rings.
    • Even the music played at the very end sounds very similar to the opening bars of "Treason of Isengard".
