Recap / Ultraman Z Ep 3: Live Coverage! The Monster Transport Operation

Go To

STORAGE was ordered to transport the ancient monster, Gomora to an uninhabited island after a construction company discover it in a mountain. Haruki heads out in Sevenger, but Gomora suddenly awakens! Haruki has no choice but to stop its rampage!

  • Batman Cold Open: The episode begins with STORAGE sending Haruki and Sevenger to deal with a rampaging Guigass, ending with a rocket punch to the Kaiju's face... only for it to fall into a nearby observatory the team were supposed to protect. Ouch.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Haruki finds out too late that he inadvertently destroyed the observatory that the team were supposed to protect after dishing out a Rocket Punch on Guigass.
  • Dynamic Entry: As with Ultraman Taro, Orb Burnmite, and even Taiga, Z Beta Smash appears with multiple backflips; followed by a Diving Kick.
  • Funny Background Event: A logo with a hammer drops onto Sevenger's head giving the impression of a bell ringing, which signals the start of a wrestling match.
  • Mythology Gag: The show's major plot is to transport Gomora from a populated area to an isolated island. The inverse happened in a two-part episodes of Ultraman.
  • Plot Allergy: Haruki has hay fever, which made difficult for him to pilot Sevenger. The same can be said with Gomora.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Played for Laughs. Haruki ends up causing another collateral damage after subduing Guigass, followed by getting lashed out on by Director Kuriyama and Hebikura, only for the former to be interrupted half way when Yoko and Yuka were talking about the funding of their next robot.
  • Refuge in Audacity: Despite Gomora being awakened during mid-delivery, Haruki in Sevenger fought against the monster with his mastery of Karate. It works too well that his tripping was mistaken for Kabuki attack and the execs from America who were watching the fight all happened to be Humongous Mecha geeks.
  • Throw the Dog a Bone: Kuriyama's superiors granted him the approval of creating their next robot after witnessing Z's efforts thwarting the rampaging Gomora. The next robot in question: Windom.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Another blunder for Haruki, and he and his team are in the receiving end of Director Kuriyama's sermon.
