Recap / Transformers Cybertron E 25 Retreat

Go To

  • Ascended Extra: After being silent throughout the previous episode, Landmine is given a bit more focus here.
  • Bloodless Carnage: Starscream slices through Crosswise, Scattorshot, Landmine and Red Alert with enough force to effectively take them down, but the only noticeable result aside from that is orange sparks coming out of the sides where they were hit.
  • Chekhov's Gunman: The kids, and not in a good way. When Starscream shoots down Jetfire, they run to help him, only for Starscream to try and use them as hostages. This gets foiled when Jolt teleports them to safety. Then, when Optimus is attempting to retrieve the falling Omega Lock, Starscream fires a missile at them, forcing Optimus to break off and save them, letting Starscream get the Omega Lock.
  • Curb Stomp Cushion: Though the Autobots ultimately fail to stop Starscream from seizing the Omega Lock and Cyber Planet Keys, they don't go down without hitting him so many times that his body is blackened, cracked and sparking, and Leobreaker manages to destroy one of his swords, so it wasn't an easy victory for Screamer.
  • Demoted to Extra: Crosswise is hit with this hard, going from being a major character in the previous two episodes to only speaking once here. It doesn't get better for him.
  • Foe-Tossing Charge: Starscream slashes, blasts, and bludgeons his way through the entire Autobot army in the climax.
  • Leave Him to Me!: Starscream when he and Sideways spot Evac returning from his mission to retrieve Earth's Cyber Planet Key on their way to the Autobot base.
    Sideways: We're almost there!
Starscream: Correct! What? (Sees Evac flying far below them.) Evac!
Sideways: An Autobot out by himself? This'll be worth a few laughs! I'll get him!
Starscream: He's mine! (Flies down to intercept Evac.)
  • Little "No": Optimus gives one after Starscream gets away with the Omega Lock and all three Cyber Planet Keys.
  • Macross Missile Massacre: Evac comes under fire from dozens of ancient Decepticons after Starscream spots the Cyber Planet Key in his hand, but he successfully dodges every single missile fired at him by making them hit each other and explode. He then gives one to the 'cons using his own missiles that explode into ''more'' missiles. The 'cons aren't as good at dodging as he is.
  • Now It's My Turn: Starscream says this before taking down Landmine and Red Alert during his Foe-Tossing Charge.
Red Alert: I must say, Starscream is surprisingly resilient, but let's see him handle this!
(Red Alert blasts Starscream with his Cyber Key Power blasters, but after a pained yell, he leaps into the air, still going.)
    Landmine and Red Alert: What?!
Starscream: My turn! (Takes down Landmine and Red Alert.)
  • Radio Silence: The Autobots cut off all broadcast communication on all frequencies in an attempt to prevent Starscream from finding their base, as radio waves would lead him there. Unfortunately, the mini-cons didn't get the message due to being captured by Franklin in the previous episode, and Jolt's attempt to contact the base is intercepted by Sideways.
  • Sadistic Choice: Starscream fires a missile at the kids after it looks like Optimus is gonna reclaim the Omega Lock and Cyber Planet Keys, forcing him to either let them die or let Starscream claim the power of Primus. Optimus saves the kids by intercepting the missile, which allows Starscream to reclaim the Lock and Keys and disappear through a dimension gate.
  • Wham Line: "Your team is your strength, Optimus. But it's also your one weakness." Combined with Wham Shot as Starscream says this while targeting a missile at the kids.
  • Wrecked Weapon: Leobreaker bites off one of Starscream's swords. In later episodes, it's replaced with a cannon.
