Conrad says some harsh things to Julia after the gang come home to find the house emptied. In a bid to keep everyone together, Jeremiah brings them to the country club to spend the night. Belly tries to deal with her burgeoning feelings for Jeremiah, who tries to protect his heart from being broken by Belly again. Steven continues to flirt with Taylor who is hesitant to let him in after he broke her heart. Cam and Skye connect.
Tropes
- Almost Kiss: After having danced for a while, Steven and Taylor are about to kiss when the Fisher brothers walk in and interrupt.
- Camping Episode: Most of the episode takes place at the country club, where the group go for a place to sleep, since Julia emptied the house. They end up sleeping outside on a hill on the golf course.
- Dance of Romance: Steven reminds Taylor that she and Belly used to play princess to show her that she would enjoy being a debutante. He put on one of the escort jackets and asks her to dance. In spite of herself, Taylor agrees and as they dance she lets herself give in to her feelings and holds Steven tight.
- Downer Ending: Once again, as the gang comes back to Julia announcing that she sold the house.
- Moment Killer: See Almost Kiss above. The Fishers walking in definitely stops the moment as both Steven and Taylor try to pretend nothing's happening between them.
- Parlor Games: The group set up on blankets outside and decide to play Truth Or Dare. Skye, having heard Belly talk about her feelings for Jeremiah, intentionally dares Belly to kiss Jere. He is visibly uncomfortable and plays it off as childish in order for everyone to move the game on to something else.
- The Reveal:
- Jeremiah took on the majority of caring for his mother while Conrad was living and studying at Brown, such as trying to figure out her medical bills. Conrad came home to ask Jeremiah for his blessing to date Belly, disguising it as genuine interest in Jeremiah's life and love life, and wanting to visit his mother and brother, but Jere sees right through him. When Conrad tells Jere that it hurts not being with Belly, Jere gives his blessing out of love for his brother, but is heartbroken.
- Susannah and Belly are the only people Jere feels can really see him. He feels like people expect him to be fine and happy all the time, so he hides his feelings. Susannah told him she worried he was too good at it and that she didn't want him to hide.
- Sleep Cute:
- Belly and Jeremiah sleep next to each other on the hill
- Steven and Taylor lie closely and talk as everyone goes to sleep. The next morning, Steven is spooning her and as everyone wakes up, Taylor feigns annoyance.
- Switching P.O.V.: Jeremiah takes over as the narrator in this episode, complete with the flashbacks explaining his motivations.
