Friends in Dry Places

While on a field trip, Lincoln worries that his friend group is splintering.

"Friends in Dry Places"

  • A Glass in the Hand: Liam crushes two orange juice boxes in anger when he learns that Lincoln signed him and the gang out of their chosen activities and got them lost in the dunes.
  • Accidental Misnaming:
    • Lynn can't remember the name of her old friend due to them growing apart in middle school.
    • Rusty, at one point, refers to Lincoln as "Lance".
  • The Cameo: Girl Jordan is partnered as Stella's buddy on the field trip, as seen when both of them are riding together on Cheryl's motorcycle.
  • Chain of People: Lincoln's friends form one in order to pull him out of a deep hole.
  • Group Hug: At the end when the friends reassure Lincoln that their friendship won't change just because they want to try out new things by themselves.
  • I Can Explain: After admitting to his friends that he and Clyde deliberately messed with their schedules and made them lost with them, Lincoln adds this trope by name. A furious Stella responds by saying that he's said enough.
  • Pregnant Reptile: At the beginning, Lana's snake gives birth in Lincoln's sleeping bag. Justified, since some kinds of real life snakes really appear to give live birth.
  • Shout-Out: The names on the list of girls bunkmates are all named after characters from various comics and classic sitcoms: Betty/Veronica, Lucy/Ethel, Patty/Marcie, Violet/Lucy, and Buddy/Sally.
  • Tempting Fate:
    • Lincoln tells Clyde he has a map to get them back before it gets blown away by the wind and then snatched by a bird.
    • At the end of the episode, Lincoln cheers that nothing can separate him and his friends. Then Cheryl's all-terrain vehicle hits a sandbar, throwing him off the inflatable raft he and his friends are riding.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Liam, Rusty, Zach, and Stella are not pleased to find out that Lincoln (with Clyde's help) took them out of their originally scheduled activities and deliberately got them lost in the dunes.

"Coupe Dreams"

  • Afraid of Clowns: Lori ends up taking on more passengers to try and raise money to buy her dream car, she ends up giving a ride to Lucy and the Young Mortician's Club, and Luan and the comedy club. Boris ends up shaking in fear, admitting to not liking clowns, which the comedy club are all dressed up as.
  • Continuity Nod:
    • Lori mentions the job she has at Lynn's Table, which she got in "Can't Hardly Wait".
    • Flip mentions Lori hitting him with her car in "House Flip".
  • Day in the Limelight: For Lori.
  • Fantasy Sequence: When Lori is first spell-bound by "Lydia", she has one where she drives up to Fairway University in it, all the other students in awe and the valet declaring that it's so nice, he'll park it for free.
  • Food as Bribe: Two young kids get into a nightclub by giving the bouncer a lollipop.
  • Gasshole: Flip farts in the van out of spite for Lori losing his luggage hitch.
  • I Call It "Vera": Lori and Leni decide to call Lori's dream car "Lydia". Later, they decide to call the car Lori gets from Mr. Grouse "Liza".
  • New Job Episode: The episode focuses on Lori getting a part-time job as a rideshare driver.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Boris turns out to be afraid of clowns, as he is shown sweating and shaking in fear while in being the same car as Luan's clown friends.
Boris: Clowns terrify Boris. [hears a honking sound] AAAH!!!
  • Work Off the Debt: When Lori decides to buy Mr. Grouse's old car, he offers to sell it to her for $750, but Lori only managed to earn $500. She becomes Mr. Grouse's chauffeur for the rest of the summer to cover the rest of the cost.
