"Ransoming Dad" (French title: "Cherchez Pa"): To pay for a poker cruise that she has won, Granny teams up with Lil' One to trick the rest of the family into thinking that Pa has been kidnapped and a ransom is being demanded for him.

"Ransoming Dad" contains the following tropes:

  • Counterfeit Cash: Granny suggests making counterfeit cash as a way to pay the ransom fee for Pa. Ma, despite being very reluctant to make the fake money, eventually agrees to do so.
  • Crying a River: Lil' One briefly floods the room with his tears when he cries about having the blame pinned on him by Caprice, shouting that he didn't do it.
  • Dramatic Irony: A few times, Ma is seen curling up on the rug that Pa has been placed under, crying that she wants him back while not realizing she's literally lying right on top of him.
  • Early-Installment Weirdness: Usually, whenever a character is electrocuted, they undergo an Art Shift that involves them completely losing their color and switching to a geometric design. Here, their color remains the same.
  • Forged Message: Granny makes a Cut-and-Paste Note to trick the family into believing that Pa's been kidnapped. Caprice notices that there are certain letters from Lil' One's favorite fairy tale book that have been cut out, and she traces the letter back to him and Granny.
  • Lie Detector: Ma has one in her basement, which she uses to determine who actually perpetrated the kidnapping scheme. It has a dome that attaches to the head of the user and presumably reads their brain waves there.
  • Miranda Rights: Caprice raises these rights on Lil' One and Granny when she manages to figure out it might be them who forged the letter. Lil' One responds saying that she can't arrest anyone, only for Granny to make him stop talking under the logic that she'll be able to use those words against them.
  • On the Money: Granny can't pay for the cruise, so she has Lil' One help her to secure the money she needs to afford it by setting up a scheme that involves tricking the other family members into paying a fake ransom fee for Pa.
  • Shout-Out: It's believed that the Wicked Witch of the West may be demanding the money mentioned in the note.
  • Verbing Nouny: The episode title, in official English translation, is "Ransoming Dad".
