When Stan goes into Gaad's office to get a signature, where Aderholt is, Gadd discovers his pen is out of ink, and he and Aderholt find the bug that's in the pen. They all freak out, and Gaad brings in Walter Taffet (Jefferson Mays) to investigate anyone who might have had access to Gaad's office in the last three months. Martha sees them looking at the pen, and freaks out, to the point she destroys the listening device, and, when she gets home, she starts looking through "Clark's" clothes drawers to see if she can find anything suspicious. When "Clark" comes home, Martha doesn't tell him what happened, but insists on seeing "Clark's" apartment, and presses him on whether they can ever live a normal life. Philip later tells Elizabeth he thinks something's up, though he doesn't know what exactly it is.
Elizabeth meets up with Nagobo (Dwayne A. Thomas), a South African activist with the African National Congress. He tells her he's meeting with Todd (Will Pullen), the South African student Hans mentioned, in order to snare Venter (Neil Sandilands), a South African intelligence officer who is using Todd to plan something against the anti-apartheid movement on campus. When Todd and Nagobo meet at a diner, and then leave, Venter shows up, at which point Philip grabs him and throws him into a van Elizabeth is driving, while Nagobo does the same to Todd.
Elsewhere, Elizabeth and Philip continue to argue about Paige, Stan and Philip end up having pizza together, and Stan, to make up for the fact he hasn't talked to Sandra about much (especially when it comes to his job), tells Matthew a little about his past when he infiltrated the white supremacist group.
