Gumball and Darwin befriend a pizza-headed kid who speaks nonsense...and discover a horrible secret about his parents.

Tropes:

  • Beware the Nice Ones: Turns out that the Pepperonis (Siciliana and Quattro, as seen on "The Job") despise the government and want it destroyed.
  • Bomb Throwing Anarchist: The Pepperonis turns out to be anarchists, and though not directly violent toward people, they do plan to forcibly sabotage the government by destroying its records.
  • A Day in the Limelight: For Quattro and Siciliana.
  • Epic Fail: Most parents already teach their children how to speak and the Pepperonis themselves are perfectly understandable which makes it all the more incredible just how badly they screwed up teaching their son.
  • Flat Earth: The Pepperonis actually believe the world is flat. Which is meant to show just how out-of-touch they are.
  • Homeschooled Kids: Peter was homeschooled before transferring to Elmore Junior High. It turns out his incomprehensible speech is a result of his parents' incompetence as teachers, which eventually resulted in them being forced to send him to school.
  • Incredibly Lame Fun: Peter brings a flight simulator video game to the Wattersons to play. Except it's a delayed flight simulator, which simulates waiting at the airport and you score by delaying flights.
  • Limited Wardrobe: Lampshaded. Gumball mentions that he and Darwin are so confident in their fashion choices, they haven't changed clothing in six years.
  • Meaningless Villain Victory: All the mayhem the Pepperonis caused to destroy the government's files turns out to be pointless since they're all backed up online.
  • New Transfer Student: Peter Pepperoni transfers to Elmore Junior High after previously being homeschooled.
  • Police Are Useless: Donut Cop doesn't want to have to write down Peter's incomprehensible babble as evidence, so he lets the Pepperonis off with no charges.
  • Retcon: As Recurring Extras, the Pepperonis were often shown to be childless, and later have a single infant child. In this episode, their apparently only child is middle school-age, and looks completely different.
  • Strawman Political: The Pepperonis in this episode are a riff on libertarian, homeschooling parents that despise and eschew the government's input on any level, in spite of how incompetent their independence efforts are. In their final line in the episode, they demonstrate they don't know what the Internet is while also stating the Earth is flat.
  • Strong Family Resemblance: The new kid is the Pepperonis' child and he's a slice of pepperoni with his father's pepper green lips and his mother's upturned nose.
  • The Unintelligible: Peter can pronounce individual words clearly, but has weird syntax, seemingly leaves out random words, and uses expression unique to him. Turns out to be because he's homeschooled by incompetent parents.

Delayed Flight Simulator

Peter Pepperoni brings a flight simulator video game to the Wattersons to play. Except it's a DELAYED flight simulator, which simulates waiting at the airport and you score by delaying flights leaving Gumball and Darwin extremely bored which is made worse by the fact that Peter has extremely incomprehensible speech as a result of his parents homeschooling him for most of his life.

How well does it match the trope?
