"Go away, Head-Nub and Nub-Head!"

Airdate: Monday, March 13, 2006

Sender: Jenny

Strong Bad: (singing) This week, I'm feeling my style! I've got confidence in my email!

Strong Bad gets an email from Jenny ("Jenny!") asking what he would do "If your head got disconnected and your head was rolling all over the place and you didn't even know were your body is or your head".

Strong Bad: Um, was your head connected to your body when you wrote this email? I think I get the gist of it.

Strong Bad thinks that with his head and body separated, he could actually double his ruckus-raising productivity: while his body is busy rioting against "the Municipality" (throwing rocks at the King of Town and a riot gear-clad Poopsmith), his head could be giving career advice, as seen when he convinces Homestar to get out of running and into "the making and selling of tiny breads". And while "Head Bad" relaxes on the beach with a fruity cocktail of some kind ("Hey, cabana boy! My drink needs more umbrellas!"), "Strong Body" can bust some "twicely fresh" moves at Club Technochocolate.

Strong Bad considers getting "some kind of repulsor lifts" to help his head move around, but then goes one step further and equips "Head Bad" with some heavy-duty flaming exhaust pipes, which he uses to beat Homestar's record in "the million-yard dash"... a somewhat hollow victory, given that Homestar has apparently taken his advice seriously and "quit the runnin' business".

Homestar: (wearing a paper hat that reads "BUNMAKER!") Cooornbreeeeead! I got cornbread here! Dinner rolls! Cornbread! Everybody wants a bun! Lemme hear that dinner roll!

Strong Bad finally considers the possibility that his disembodied head and headless body could "learn to regenerate" and form "two perfectly-formed Strong Bad specimens"... which turn out to be anything but "perfectly formed".

Strong Body: (in a high-pitched voice) I would like to go to the store!
Head Bad: (in a scratchy, gravely voice) I think you're cute, huh-huh!
Strong Bad: Eeeugh! Go away, Head-Nub and Nub-Head! Those things look straight out of the creature shop from some low-to-no budget horror film. Maybe chopping my head off isn't such a good idea.
(Pan out to reveal The Cheat standing next to the computer table with a guillotine, walking away with a disappointed The Cheat noise)

Tropes:

  • Body Horror: The initial decapitation is bloodless, though you can see a bone sticking out of Strong Body's neck. Then, when Strong Bad brings up the idea of his head and body evolving new body parts, it turns into an example of this when Strong Body sprouts a lumpy growth that vaguely resembles Strong Bad's head, and Head Bad grows an assortment of mismatched arms and legs.
  • Detachment Combat: Strong Body rebels against the King of Town while Head Bad gives career advice to Homestar.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Strong Bad tells Homestar to quit athletic sports, then tries to win a race against Homestar before finding out that Homestar took the advice to heart.
  • Losing Your Head: The whole focus of the email is what would happen if Strong Bad's head became detached from his body.
  • Shout-Out: The way Strong Bad sings the e-mail sender's name could be a nod to "867-5309/Jenny" by Tommy Tutone.
  • Split Screen: Used initially when Strong Body is rioting and Head Bad is counselling, but then it's revealed that they've been right next to each other the whole time.
Head Bad: That's some nice revolutin', there, body, but... uh, maybe we should spread out. Like, more.
  • Umbrella Drink: Head Bad is seen with a drink profusely laden with umbrellas while relaxing on a "Far Side" Island.

Strong Bad: Well, time to go satisfy my sudden craving for tiny breads. Hope I can find my local bunman...
(Strong Bad leaves, The Paper comes down.)
