Goddammit, you two, just kiss already!

The first prelude short of Star Wars Rebels, found here.

The Ghost is in a battle with TIE fighters. Kanan and Hera are arguing how to best take them down, while Chopper tries to deal with their conflicting orders.

Tropes in this short:

  • Ace Pilot: After Kanan tells Hera to fly better if she wants him to get rid of the TIE fighters, she gets insulted by his remark. To get back at him, she shows off her piloting skills by easily outmaneuvering both remaining TIEs, and taking out one with the Ghost's front guns.
  • Beleaguered Assistant: Chopper, when Kanan and Hera are giving him conflicting orders and he becomes frustrated by what to do.
  • Continuity Nod: The TIE Fighters perform almost the exact same maneuvers as they did in pursuing the Millennium Falcon in A New Hope.
  • Head Desk: Performed by Chopper with an obvious "I'm Surrounded by Idiots" overtone.
  • It Seemed Like a Good Idea at the Time: Kanan's idea to raid the Imperial convoy.
Hera: As I recall, raiding an Imperial supply convoy was your idea.
Kanan: Well, it made sense at the time.
  • Like an Old Married Couple: The way Kanan and Hera are exchanging jabs with each other while trying to escape the TIE fighters is just like this. And the way they "make up" afterward while having a private moment makes it quite clear that they're very close. Their arguing even enters into Skewed Priorities territory when Hera orders Chopper to fix the internal coms instead of the shields.
  • Ship Tease: Kanan and Hera, after defeating the TIE fighters, are found flirting with each other by Chopper. They even look like they're about to kiss when Kanan begins to lean in towards a smiling Hera before Chopper serves as a Moment Killer.
  • Take a Third Option: Chopper finally gets fed up and blows up the last TIE fighter himself when sick of going back and forth because of Hera and Kanan's conflicting orders.
