Eggman's old enemy, Nominatus, is back - and with the help of his two virus minions he sets out to take over the world once again.
Tropes featured in this episode:
- Brick Joke: The numerous random animals that keep threatening Nominatus and his two goons are later explained by Knuckles hiding dead fish under Tails's floorboards.
- Chasing a Butterfly: There's a Running Gag throughout this episode of Team Sonic attempting to catch and calm down Ms. Tomatopotamus - though she's really causing havoc just so she can get them to show her a bit of love.
- Don't Celebrate Just Yet: Nominatus and his minions are finally able to cross over to the real world using Tails' Build-it Box. However, they're only a few inches tall because of a file-size throttle Tails put on the machine. Nominatus' response? A Big "NO!".
- Evil Is Petty: Tails's security cam footage shows Eggman likes to sneak into his workshop and rub the fox's laptop mouse on his armpit. Tails is rightfully grossed out for a moment before moving on.
- Huggy, Huggy Hippos: Ms. Tomatopotamus. She's so adorable, so much so that Knuckles happens to show a Gentle Giant instinct towards her by putting her on his lap and giving strokes.Knuckles: I was voted "Sensitive Soul of the Month" by Hulking Brute Magazine.
- Shout-Out: At the start of this episode, Tails shows his friends an upgrade to his Build-it Box that allows him to bring digital characters into the real world - for example, Ms. Tomatopotamus, an adorable purple hippo with a bow. In response to this, Sonic says that there's "a princess in a certain castle [he'd] like to meet". Amy's own response to this, as you'd probably expect, is a furious growl.
- We Need a Distraction: After Knuckles manages to cease Ms. Tomatopotamus from causing havoc in Tails' workship, there is an alarm from Tails' laptop signalling an Eggman attack, despite a loving Knuckles, who carries Ms. Tomatopotamus along with him as the team race off to war, gloating about how they could watch over the hippo instead.Sonic: Sorry, Knux. Can't leave the village hanging, no matter how cute Ms. Tomatopotamus is.
