It's been five years since the beginning of Sanders Sides. As a celebration, Thomas decides to have a retrospective talk with the Sides and conducts a series of interviews with them about their experience in the series and with each other and what they expect for the future.

Originally released as a Sanders Sides episode, in September 2023 it was officially reorganized as a Sanders Asides episode instead.

Release date: November 14, 2021

Tropes

  • All Just a Dream: Subverted. Thomas starts the episode reenacting the very first scene from the first episode of the series where he wakes up in bed saying the same series' first words, "YouTube time!", then wonders if all his experiences with the Sides in the past five years have just been a dream... then suddenly smiles at the camera and denies it, but concedes it would be "wild."
  • Bread, Eggs, Milk, Squick: Who else but Patton.
Patton: Happy birthday! Sanders Sides would be in kindergarten now! Oh my gosh, it'll be off to its first day at school, making its first friend, eating the chalk...
  • Call-Back: Too many to count them all. For example, Remus is sprayed with soap so he stops talking about spoilers of the series, a callback to when he mentioned he was allergic to soap in "Working Through Intrusive Thoughts". Another callback of the same kind comes later when he drinks the soap and has a bad allergic reaction.
    • And of course, the call-back to the callback fiasco itself, Roman even expressing regret over going to the wedding.
  • Continuity Nod: Again, too many to count them all. For example, Logan mentions that the possibility of him making mistakes again is "infinitesimal", a correct use of the word he once used wrongly in "Losing my Motivation" and had Patton teasing him again and again of that mistake during season 1.
  • The End... Or Is It?: The endcard sequence shows the appearance of an orange sitting on the chair where all the other Sides were previously sitting down for the interviews, together with a foreboding music, foreshadowing that the following episode will finally reveal the long anticipated Orange Side... Then Thomas grabs his "snack" he had forgotten on the chair.
  • I Need A Drink: Logan throughout the episode is always present with a vessel full of wine. He starts with a little glass, and as the episode goes on, the vessel keeps getting bigger and bigger until in the last scene he has a full bottle of wine in his hand.
  • I Regret Nothing: Thomas asks the sides if they have any regrets. Everyone answers...except Remus.
Thomas: Yeah, I don't know why I'm asking you that question. My bad.
  • Long List: Virgil's regrets, apparently.
  • No Fourth Wall: Thomas and the Sides chat with each other and address the audience with total freedom, as if viewers where part of an audience present in the living room watching a live talk-show.
  • The Reveal: Remus finally reveals in-universe his emblem and where it stands in his costume. Being Remus, it's no surprise it stands on the back of his pants, at the height of his butt, right on the center of his right cheek.
  • This Is Unforgivable!:
  • Tragic Keepsake: Parodied when Roman says he has one regret and pulls out a photo from a wedding. Thomas points out that it's not from Lee and Mary Lee's wedding and that Roman printed out a stock image, to which Roman angrily retorts that Thomas didn't take any photos and that he needed something to look upon while lamenting.
