Recap / Rick And The Loud House Chapter 2 Lanwmower Dog

Go To

Rick gives Lynn, Sr. a device to better train the family dog, Charles. Meanwhile, Lincoln goes to Rick for a way to get revenge on Lori for breaking his VR goggles.

Rick & Morty episode: "Lawnmower Dog"

Loud House episode(s): "Get The Message", "No Guts, No Glori"

  • Adaptational Angst Upgrade: In the original Loud House episode, when Lori reads Lincoln's "Worst Sister Ever" paper, she threatens to turn him into a "human pretzel". Here though, she's genuinely hurt by Lincoln's words and, coupled with the dream sequence going to hell, she is reduced to a sobbing wreck.
  • Adapted Out: Scary Terry, the "legally-safe knockoff" of Freddy Kruger, is nowhere to be seen here.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Leni tries to find Charles/Spot's "test results". Charles can't bring himself to correct her.
  • Demoted to Extra: Charles, the family dog of the Loud House, departs from the story after this chapter.
  • Lighter and Softer: In the original Rick and Morty episode, Rick claims that dying while inside the dream of another person means dying in real life. In this chapter, however, Rick assures Lincoln and Lana that he modified the dream device so that they'll instead just simply wake up from the dream rather than risk death.
  • Jerkass Ball: Lynn Sr. disciplines Charles for peeing on the rug by rubbing his face in the urine. Later on he gets so used to using the obedience helmet to control Charles that he disregards Lana's worries that the helmet might change him.
  • Jerkass Realization:
    • Both Lincoln and Lori go through this. Lincoln realized that being the eldest sister in a rowdy household of 11 kids is what causes Lori to be mean and bossy for the sake maintaining order in the Loud House. Lori realized that it was her mean and seemingly uncaring behavior that caused Lincoln to resent her as "the worst sister ever."
    • Charles underwent this as well. After he has the dream about Lincoln and Lana dying, Charles loses the will to pursue the conquest of the Earth and leaves with his legions of dogs for a new world.
  • Pet the Dog: Ironically, the petting is being done by a literal dog. Either way, while Charles spares Lincoln and Lana because they treated him kindly before becoming sapient, he decides to spare Leni as well because he believes she's too innocent to hurt.
  • Put on a Bus: Charles leaves the Loud Family and, aside from a few mentions in later chapters, has never made another appearance in the story.
