Go To

No Guts, No Glori: Lincoln and his sisters plot a rebellion against Lori's tyranny as babysitter.

"Driving Miss Hazy"

  • An Aesop:
    • Just because someone in your family achieves something doesn’t mean you won't be special anymore.
    • Don’t try to sabotage someone’s efforts; it’s best to let them practice as they deserve it.
    • Do your own chores and don't blackmail your younger siblings.
  • Arson, Murder, and Jaywalking: Thanks to Lori, Leni fails her 14th driver's test because she drove on the wrong side of the road, neglected to check her mirrors, and she commented on her driving instructor's weight.
  • Artistic License – Law Enforcement: The officer informs Lincoln and Lori about Leni's failed tests, but not informs their parents.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Leni still does not have her license, having failed the 14th time and Lori still remains the only sister who can drive. But Lori did apologize for ruining her chances for the sake of wanting to be special, and vows to help make up for it. On the other hand, if Leni still doesn't know drive, then Lori will keep blackmailing her siblings.
  • Buffy Speak: This becomes a plot point, as Leni can only be taught how to drive if someone explains things at her level.
  • Didn't Think This Through: It's not until Lincoln calls her out on it that Lori realizes her sabotage could cause Leni to crash and/or get herself (as well as others) seriously hurt (or possibly worse).
  • Drives Like Crazy: Leni failed her driving test twelve times. By the end of the episode, it increases to fourteen, because of the disastrous actions of Lincoln and Lori.
  • Eye Twitch: Lincoln gets one after Leni puts on a racing helmet.
  • Facepalm: Both Lincoln and Lori do this near the end of the episode when Leni takes Lincoln's example of buying a new dress literally.note
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Looking closely at the police officer's report on Leni's disastrous driving test reveals that her citations are: "Crazy Mall Chick", "Incident Report", ""Forgot" the speed limit", "What are "blinky blinks"??", "Hijacked test vehicle", "Assaulted Instructor Jelinski", and "NOTE: Culprit is dangerous".
  • Hidden Depths: Despite her overall lack of intelligence, including thinking that making a bed involves building one rather than just neatening it, Leni is shown to be very good at building beds. Lincoln compliments her craftsmanship when he sees the bed she made for Lori.
  • I Just Want to Be Special: Lori feels that if Leni gets her license, then her siblings won't need her anymore.
  • Impact Silhouette: The flashback of Leni trying to drive a lawnmower has her leave a massive Leni-and-lawnmower-shaped hole in the shrubs.
  • Interrogation by Vandalism: Lincoln tries to get Lori to spill the beans about how she's sabotaging Leni by threatening to shrink her favorite Bobby sweater in the dryer.
  • Literal-Minded: Lori told Leni to make her bed to get a ride from her, but Leni thought she meant for her to make her a bed from scratch.
  • Noodle Incident: The Fire Hydrant Paperboy Nun Incident, which Leni implies was the last time she learned to drive. Only the aftermath is shown.
  • Saying Too Much:
Lincoln: Actually, I'm pretty sure she'll will pass.
Lori: No, she won't, because I made sure of it.
    Lincoln: Wait, what?!
    Lori: Nothing!
  • Shout-Out: Leni's driving outfit in this episode resembles that of Penelope Pitstop.
  • Sleep Learning: Lori intentionally gets Leni to fail her driving test by slipping headphones onto her that teach bad driving instructions while she slept.
  • Status Quo Is God: The episode ends with Leni still without a license and Lori the only one with a license, as per the norm.
  • Yank the Dog's Chain: Leni finally finds a way to practice her driving by "speaking Leni", only for Lori to intentionally ruin her chances of passing by giving her bad driving instructions in her sleep.

"No Guts, No Glori"

  • An Aesop: Lincoln learns that you need to be firm when trying to keep control of a situation, and Lori learns that you can't be 'too' firm and say no to everything. The secret is to balance responsibility and freedom.
  • Accidental Truth: Lori tells her sisters Mom and Dad will be back in ten minutes to motivate them into cleaning up fast. Then she gets a call from Mom and Dad saying they really will be back in ten minutes.
  • Astonishingly Appropriate Interruption: Lincoln says, "We call her the Queen of..." but then is interrupted by Lori shouting, "No!".
  • Babysitter from Hell: Lori, complete with a Drill Sergeant Nasty getup. While she's not evil, some of her rules are really strict, like "no music" and "stare at the wall before bed".
  • Badly Battered Babysitter: Lincoln when he's the one in charge. The reason he's battered is because his sisters keep misbehaving and not listening to him. Looks like the Queen of No was right.
  • Big "NO!":
    • Lincoln screams, "No!" after Mom shuts the door.
    • Lori is called "The Queen of No" for a reason.
  • Big Word Shout: Lola shouts, "Glitter!" after seeing glitter.
  • Bottle Episode: The entire episode is set in the Loud House.
  • Bound and Gagged: Lori is tied to a chair by her siblings. This later happens to Lincoln when he attempts to stop them from running wild.
  • Cranial Eruption: Lincoln gets a bump on his head when Lola hits him over the head with a golf club.
  • Defiant Strip: When Lincoln asks baby Lily if she likes it when Lori demands she wear diapers so she doesn't get naked, Lily makes an indignant face, removes the diaper and blows raspberry.
  • Foodfight!: One of the ways the sisters take advantage of Lori not being able to boss them around is by throwing food at one another.
  • Golf Clubbing: Lola knocks Lincoln out with a golf club.
  • Gone Horribly Right: Lincoln and his sisters lock up Lori so they can do their own thing, which suddenly expands to messing up the whole house.
  • Got Me Doing It: Lincoln winds up replicating Lori's attitude when he tries to stop his sisters.
Lynn: "Who do you think you are, Lori?!"
  • High-Pressure Emotion: Lincoln, realizing that Lori was right that he can’t maintain order in the house (without her), turns red, complete with steam erupting from his hair tuft.
  • Instant Messenger Pigeon: Hamster, rather than pigeon, but this is how Lincoln sent his messages to the others.
  • Ironic Echo: When Lori asks the sisters who should be in charge, they say they’re “thinkin’ Lincoln”. However, when Lincoln asks Lori for help when things get out of control, Lori says that she’s “thinkin’ Lincoln“ should clean up the mess himself just to get him to apologize to her.
  • Jerkass Has a Point: Lori says that she's the only one who can prevent the house from turning into a pile of rubble. She's quite right. When the younger sisters vote Lincoln as the new head honcho, the place quickly turns into a mess and she's the only one who can undo it. They can't even last 5 minutes without her being in charge.
  • Last-Second Joke Problem: Lori learns not to be so bossy, while her siblings realise that a complete lack of authority leads to chaos. However, they're still in trouble because they broke Lynn Sr.'s golf clubs.
  • Laughing Mad: Lori laughs as she is carried to her room knowing that Lincoln will fail as the new babysitter, although downplayed as she's not really insane.
  • Let's See YOU Do Better!: Lori says this to Lincoln when the others vote that he be in charge:
Lori: Lincoln in charge? You couldn't lead Cliff to the litterbox!
  • Ma'am Shock: Inverted. Lori gets mad at Lana when she calls her "Sir".
  • Magic Countdown: Averted when Lori claims Lincoln won't last five minutes as leader. She is right — Lincoln only goes about three minutes.
  • Naked People Are Funny: There is a joke about Lily going without her diaper when it's mentioned as one of the things she's not allowed to do.
  • Oh, Crap!: Lincoln when he and the sisters smell Mom’s perfume, leading him to realize they’re going on a date and leaving Lori in charge.
    • Lincoln and Lori when their dad comes home and see his golf club all bent up.
  • Out-of-Character Moment:
    • Lana fishes in the fish tank, despite usually being an animal lover.
    • If today is Friday the 13th, Lucy should think of something especially dark to do. But for some reason, she finds it more fun to have a food fight with Lana.
  • La Résistance: Lincoln and his remaining sisters stage a revolution against Lori's tyrannical rule.
  • Saying Sound Effects Out Loud: When the sisters sniff the waft from Mom's perfume, Lucy can be heard saying, "Sniff, sniff."
  • Slow "NO!": Lincoln screams one when he charges toward Luna before she blows him away with her giant speakers.
  • Squee: This is Lola's reaction when she sees a cloud of glitter:
    "GLIIIIITTEEEEER!!!"
  • Toilet Humour: A running gag is Lincoln not being able to lead Cliff to the litter box.
  • Wallpaper Camouflage: Luan uses this when she and her sisters try to sneak into into Lincoln's room without alerting Lori.
  • Wanting Is Better Than Having: Lincoln learns this when he takes over for Lori when she's locked up and lets the sisters enjoy themselves so much they trash the whole house.
  • We Need a Distraction: Lori distracts Lola from her guard duty by throwing a cloud of glitter.
