"We might be losers, Felix, but we still kicked your ass."

As the Chorus armies start overwhelming the Space Pirates, Felix and an increasingly conflicted Locus attempt to murder the Reds and Blues at the Communication Temple before they can broadcast their message to the entire galaxy.

List of tropes applying to this episode:

  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Felix, fed up with Locus' tripe that the mission has failed, snaps that he doesn't care about that, and for Locus to stop thinking about following orders. Locus not only does just that, he leaves Felix at the mercy of the Reds and Blues after they dish him a humiliating Curb-Stomp Battle.
  • Big Damn Heroes:
    • In the opening moments of the episode, Matthews saves the Fed Gunner from an insane Space Pirate sneaking up on him by ramming his Ghost into him. The Fed Gunner thanks him and the two exchange friendly words for a moment, showing how the two armies are finally working together properly.
    • At the start of Reds and Blues performing a Zerg Rush on Felix, when Felix briefly gains the upperhand against Tucker, Caboose and Freckles quickly save him by firing at Felix, drawing his attention away from Tucker.
  • Brick Joke: Donut once again calls himself "Double O'Donut" during the fight with Felix when wielding an alien weapon, as he previously did in "Tourist Trap".
  • The Cameo: Among those reacting to Epsilon's message are Junior and Sister, who haven't been seen since The Blood Gulch Chronicles.
  • Car Fu: The opening of the episode has Matthews save the Fed Gunner from an insane Space Pirate by ramming the Ghost he's driving into the pirate. He admits he was actually trying to shoot the pirate and quickly loses control of the Ghost but it still got the job done.
  • Chekhov's Lecture: In "Counseling", the Counselor briefly asked Locus if the mercenary would like to learn Felix's fear. In this episode, Locus asks Santa the same question, and learns this; Felix is afraid that Locus will someday recover from his trauma and abandon him, because Felix, for all his posturing, knows he cannot survive without his partner watching his back.
  • Cliffhanger: The Staff of Charon arrives in Chorus' atmosphere, and Hargrove announces from it that the message the Reds and Blues sent out was a terrible mistake.
  • Curb-Stomp Battle: The Reds and Blues deliver one to Felix, with them all performing a Zerg Rush on him, leaving him unable to handle them all at once while simultaneously taunting him with insults that make him angrier.
  • Disney Villain Death: Felix dies by falling out the side of the temple.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Locus turns against Felix and activates the Communication Temple. The Reds and Blues are quick to point out this doesn't absolve him of anything, and Locus agrees; however, he still flees, as while he wants to make things right, he won't do it from inside a cell.
  • Hope Spot: Victory seems assured for the Reds and Blues and the residents of Chorus... until the Staff of Charon arrives.
  • Ironic Echo: When Felix is going after the Reds and Blues, he tells Locus, "I'm not doing this for Hargrove. I'm doing this for me." Later, when Locus defects, he tells Felix, "I'm not doing this for the reward. I'm not doing this because someone told me to. I'm doing this for me."
  • Insult Backfire: During his Villainous Breakdown, Felix screams that Tucker and his friends are all "a bunch of pathetic, stupid, losers!" After Felix suffers a Curb-Stomp Battle against them, Epsilon taunts him "Yeah... we might be losers, Felix, but we still kicked your ass."
  • I Shall Taunt You: The Reds and Blues continuously taunt and insult Felix as they Zerg Rush him, like Grif shouting "You give Orange dudes a bad name!", which just makes Felix even madder and sloppier during the fight.
    Felix: Pissing me off...!
  • Let's Split Up, Gang!: When the Reds and Blues see that Locus and Felix are alive and flying right towards them in a Falcon, Sarge quickly shouts "Scatter!" and the group run away before the Falcon crashes.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Felix has completely lost it here, trying to murder the Reds and Blues with no signs of his sarcasm. He loses what little sanity he had left when Locus turns on him.
  • Wham Shot: Locus throwing his gun down.
  • Zerg Rush: How the Reds and Blues defeat Felix. They swarm him as a group from different angels, preventing him from making a proper counterattack against any of them since whoever he isn't focusing on manages to strike him.
