So Many Moons

Mindy is worried about getting a baby sibling. Jet compares it to Jupiter having 67 kids — that is to say, 67 moons. note
  • Aborted Arc: Mindy mentions that her parents are thinking about having another baby. This could have set up an arc about Mindy preparing to be a big sister, but this was subsequently dropped and forgotten about after this episode. So you could say that they literally aborted the baby arc.
  • Character Development: Discussed. Sydney tells Sean that he's getting more used to space travel.
  • Cool Big Sis: Discussed. Sydney and Sean tell Mindy that she would be a great big sister, being smart and grown-up.
  • Infant Sibling Jealousy: Although the baby isn't even conceived, Mindy worries that her parents will like the baby better than her.
  • List Song: Jet sings a song listing almost all of Jupiter's moons.
  • Massively Numbered Siblings: Jupiter has 67 'kids.' Mindy figures that having 1 sibling is better than having 67 of them.
  • Rule of Cool: Discussed when Jet says that flying out to see Jupiter's moons is more fun than looking it up online.
  • Shout-Out:
    • When Jet says that Jupiter has over 60 kids (moons), Mindy compares it to The Old Lady Who Lives In Her Shoe.
    • Sydney points out how Jupiter was named after Zeus, and its' moons were named after his children.
  • That Reminds Me of a Song: Before he sings the List Song, Jet says "I feel a song coming on!"

Project Pluto

Jet, Sean, and Sydney have to tell Mindy that Pluto isn't a planet.
  • Alliterative Title: Project Pluto.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Dr. Rafferty unintentionally embarrasses Sean by mentioning that when he was four, he insisted on carrying a little purple hippo around.
  • Bearer of Bad News: Jet loses to Sean and Sydney in a game of "not it" and has to tell Mindy that Pluto is no longer a planet. However, he gets off easy because when he tries to tell her, she tells Jet that she already knew.
  • Big Eater: Sean shows shades of this. He said that the Propulsions usually have snacks when the kids go to ask Carrot a question about Pluto, which earned him a funny look from Sydney.
Sean: It's been a while since lunch!
  • Foreshadowing: Carrot calls Pluto "dear little Pluto," which foreshadows the song "Dear Little Frozen Pluto" from the episode "From Pluto With Love."
  • Piggyback Cute: Jet is shown giving Mindy an adorable piggyback ride when they enter the house.
  • Pluto Is Expendable: Averted. While Pluto's demotion is the topic of the episode, the kids feel sorry that it isn't a planet, rather than making fun of it.
  • Rule of Three: There are three requirements to being a planet - orbiting the sun, having enough mass to be round, and clearing the neighborhood. Because Pluto doesn't do the last thing, it's not a planet.
  • "Shaggy Dog" Story: Mindy wants to make a model of Pluto for show-and-tell at school, but then the other kids tell her that Pluto is no longer a planet. Then, the older kids go to the DSA and have a debate with the scientists on whether Pluto should be considered a planet or not. Then, the kids are forced to go home and tell Mindy that Pluto truly is no longer a planet, (which could have lead to an emotional ending with An Aesop) but then discover that Mindy has already accepted the fact that Pluto is no longer a planet and has made a model of Saturn instead.
  • That Cloud Looks Like...: At the beginning of the episode, Jet is looking at the clouds, and sees a cloud that looks like Sunspot.
  • Verbal Backspace: "Thank you for coming, people of Earth (Sydney shushes Jet) I mean...thank you for coming, everyone."
