This episode has examples of

  • Borrowed Catchphrase: Hexadecimal screams "WHAT?!" when Mike announces a program about Al's Diner.
  • Description Cut: Dot expresses certainty that Bob would never go to meet Hexadecimal without a really good plan. Then at her lair:
    Mike: That's your whole plan?!
    Bob: Yep.
Mike: And neither of us are expected to survive?!
    Bob: That's right.
Mike: [putting on a cowboy hat] Well, that's not much of a plan, is it, pilgrim?
  • The End... Or Is It?: Hexadecimal seems completely out of it, but then she briefly sports a Slasher Smile.
  • Foreshadowing:
    • One of the Binome guards says he's heard stories about the Web invading systems.
    • Bob leaves Mike with Hexadecimal. This will have consequences.
  • Genius Bonus: Hexadecimal's art pieces include many Shout Outs to famous real-world artworks. They range from Andy Warhol's painting Goddess to Michelangelo Buonarroti's "The Creation Of Adam".
  • Got Volunteered: Bob's plan involves roping Mike into all this.
  • Mad Artist: The whole reason for Hexadecimal's wrecking Mainframe with the paint program is so the system's inhabitants will appreciate her "talent" as an artist. When Bob and Mike arrive at her lair on the pretense of interviewing her, she's pleased to finally be getting the recognition she deserves.
  • No Face Under the Mask: When Hexadecimal tries to attack Bob, he quickly uses the Paint program to remove her mask, revealing nothing but an empty hole from which all her power surges out underneath.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Hexadecimal takes out Megabyte, Phong, Glitch, communications, and transportation. As Bob says, it's like she's working from a plan for once.
  • Race Against the Clock: Phong tells Bob that the damages Hexadecimal is causing will become permanent in the next scheduled system backup. Bob needs to undo Hex's work before that can happen.
  • Reality Is Out to Lunch: The natural outcome of Hexadecimal changing Mainframe to suit her whims.
  • Say My Name: Megabyte shouts Hexadecimal's name after she "cheered up" the Tor.
  • Shout-Out: Hexidecimal asks the captive guards to "Picture if you will...". From the camera perspective, however, she's directly addressing the audience, just like Rod Serling does in his narrations.
  • Villainous RRoD: When Bob removes Hexadecimal's mask, her power starts going out of control. Even when Bob returns it, Hex' is too tired to do anything but lie prone on the floor.
  • You Fool!: As Hexadecimal overloads, one of the masks shouts this at Bob.
