Stroggos is the first mission in the Nintendo 64 version of Quake II. The unit was given a name when the whole campaign was ported into the 2023 remastered edition.

Viper is tasked with infiltrating the base and getting an entrance into the Strogg Orbital Station.

The missions in this unit are "Strogg Outpost", "Central Complex", "Intelligence Center" and "Communications Center".

This unit shows examples of:

  • Broken Bridge:
    • In "Central Complex", the access to the next level is located behind a forcefield in the first room of the level.
    • In "Intelligence Center", it's instead located next to the corridor with the Data CD.
    • In "Communications Center", it's located next to the corridor to the Control Room.
  • Compressed Adaptation: "Communications Center" is a reduced version of the PC Base Unit level "Comm Center". It begins near the slime pit (thus removing everything from the Installation sewers entrance to the ramp room) and ends right after the satellite link was established (removing everything from the Blue Key door onwards).
  • Disc-One Nuke: Compared with the vanilla PC game, you obtain the Super Shotgun on the second secret of "Strogg Outpost", and half the original arsenal by the time you exit "Command Center".
  • Forced Tutorial: The 2023 remastered edition of the N64 game still has "Strogg Outpost" as the beginning level in spite of the existence of an actual tutorial mode.
  • Monster Closet:
    • In "Intelligence Center":
      • Two Enforcers come out of a secret room in the corridor next to the first platform you descend from.
      • Two walls in the Data CD room give way to four Berserkers once you pick up said item.
      • The elevator to "Communications Center" in "Intelligence Center" has a Gunner.
    • "Communications Center":
      • Right after taking the platform to the upper level, a nearby wall explodes revealing a Gunner.
      • Much like the original Comm Center, the corridor to the Control Room has an exploding wall. The only difference is that this time it reveals a Gunner rather than a Parasite.
  • Rewarding Vandalism:
    • "Strogg Outpost" teaches you to recognize explosive boxes and barrels by hiding secrets in them. One of these barrels open the secret that holds the Super Shotgun.
    • There's an Adrenaline hidden behind two explosive barrels in "Central Complex".
    • Two destroyable sections in "Intelligence Center" reveal an Ammo Pack and two Large Health packs respectively. The latter is conveniently placed in the same room as the four Berserkers.
  • Stuff Blowing Up: The objective of "Central Complex" is to use a backpack of Explosive Charges in order to blow up a Security Terminal.
  • Teleporting Keycard Squad: Unlocking the door to the Communications Center corridor in "Intelligence Center" spawns two Enforcers in the room previous to the lasers.
