Recap / Prehistoric Park Extras E 21 Silent Night

Go To

Two weeks after the woolly mammoth mission, and with only two days before Christmas, things seem to be going surprisingly smoothly for the park ever since the announcement that the park shall be allowed to start preparing for opening to the public. But when a young steppe brown bear cub unexpectedly ends up arriving at the park via anomaly, it isn't long before the usual wacky hijinks ensue.

  • Alcohol-Induced Idiocy: The only reason that Jack, Colette, Yolanda, and Will go to such ridiculously high lengths to hide Koda is the fact that they're a) royally sozzled and b) trying to keep that fact secret. And sure enough, Yolanda immediately tells Linda about the cub once she's sober.
  • Badly Battered Babysitter: Jack, Collete, Yolanda and Will go through quite a bit of trouble attempting to keep Koda safe (and hide him from the other staff). To be fair, they are, in part, responsible for their own torment - they're trying to hide him to avoid being found out about having a lock-in in the park bar.
  • Beary Friendly: Koda is a perfectly sweet and amiable fellow; which makes sense considering he's still only a cub.
  • Christmas Episode: The very first one of the series (even if on a technicality).
  • Doorstop Baby: A non-human case - in Christmas special tradition, Koda arrives on the doorstep of Prehistoric Park's bar through an anomaly.
  • Heartwarming Orphan: Whilst none of the protagonists ever find this out, Koda's mother was killed by an Ape Man hunting party, leaving him orphaned.
  • Morality Pet: It is Collete who bonds the most with Koda over the whole misadventure.
  • Noodle Incident: Apparently, Drew hogged "all the good sweeties" from the staff Halloween party. Jack is quite broken up over that, apparently.
  • Shout-Out:
    • The steppe brown bear cub that unexpectedly ends up arriving at the park via anomaly ends up appropriately named Koda.
    • Jack quotes Blackadder when he says their attempt to hide Koda was "about as convincing as a giraffe with dark glasses attempting to get into a polar-bears-only golf club".
  • Zany Scheme: Jack, Collete, Yolanda and Will's plan to hide Koda until morning is basically a zany scheme to avoid being found out about having lock-ins in the park bar.
