Flash and his companions continue their trek to Bales Town, learning they need to cross a mountain and decide to rest at its base, but Flash encounters an old rival at the Pokémon center.
- The Bad Guy Wins: Lightning Blitz wins the battle with Flash 2-1, and indulges in a lot of Unsportsmanlike Gloating, stating this proves Flash and his team are weak.
- Combat Referee: In Flash and Lightning's battle, Doc acts as the commentator and referee for the match.
- Continuity Nod: The first Pokémon Lightning plays against Flash is Geckoxic, the same one that was encountered by Flash's group in the previous chapter, now captured by a trainer.
- Downer Ending: Lightning wins the battle against Flash, and Lightning indulges in some Unsportsmanlike Gloating, saying Flash and his team are worthless losers and their battle proves it. This leaves Flash very angered, swearing that he is never going to lose to Lightning again.
- Graceful Loser: Despite losing to Lightning, Flash calmly accepts his defeat and comforts his defeated Pokémon. Lightning, for his part, does not reciprocate the good sportsmanship, leading to Flash getting angered and swearing to never lose to Lightning again.
- The Reveal: It is revealed Lightning Blitz was the trainer that found Geckoxic at the end of the previous chapter, and sucessfully caught it.
- Smug Snake: Arrogant as always, Lightning insults Flash throughout the entirety of the chapter.
