The championship battle between Flash and Shining reaches its halfway point, with the battle between Prongs and Lokelpie ending in a tie, resulting in three of Shining's Pokémon defeated. Flash and his Pokémon continue to give it their all against the champion and his team, but can they stand up to his ace Pokémon Galladin?
- Blade Lock: During the battle between Riptide and Galladin, the two of them clash swords with their attacks, with Galladin using Slash and Riptide countering with Aqua Break, creating a clash between metal and water swords. Later, Springer uses his Bone Rush staff to block and parry Galaddin's attacks.
- Cliffhanger: The chapter ends with Flash and Springer both on their knees, with Flash having felt all the damage Springer took against Galladin due to their aura connection, and neither appearing responsive.
- Curb-Stomp Battle: Galladin defeats three of Flash's Pokémon, managing to survive every move they throw at him while seemingly taking little to no damage through it all. By the end of the chapter Galladin even has Springer on the ropes.
- Death or Glory Attack: During the battle between Skyler and Galladin, Flash tells Skyler to use Giga Impact since none of his other attacks are strong enough to damage Galladin's high defenses, knowing that if it doesn't beat Galladin it will leave Skyler vulnerable to attack.
- Double Knockout: The chapter begins with the result of the clash between the Energy Ball and Ice Beam collision, showing that Prongs and Lokelpie were both knocked out from the resulting explosion.
- Dragons Versus Knights: This is of course done when Flash calls out Astro, a Dragon-type, to battle Galladin, the "Gallant Knight Pokémon". Much like the classic medieval stories, the "knight" ends up the winner.
- Hoist by His Own Petard: In the climax of the battle, Flash and Springer's aura connection becomes so powerful that not only do the two of them move in synchronization with each other, but any damage Springer takes is felt by Flash too. At the end of the chapter, Springer has taken so much damage, Flash lets out a humongous scream of pain and he and Springer are both on their knees, apparently unresponsive.
- Hope Spot: Two during the battle with Galladin.
- When Skyler battles Galladin, his speed increases thanks to constantly using Tornado Burst, to the point Galladin can no longer hit him. Flash and Skyler attempt to end the battle using Giga Impact, Skyler's strongest attack, which even Shining acknowledges could potentially defeat Galladin. However, after the attack lands, Galladin is still standing without a scratch, and easily defeats Skyler while he is vulnerable from recharging.
- When Springer battles Galladin in the final battle, he eventually starts to run circles around Galladin thanks to his superior speed. But Galladin uses its Armor Drop ability to drop its defense but increases its speed and attack, allowing it to now catch up with Springer and begin to overwhelm him.
- The Reveal: Shining's sixth Pokémon on his team, which has remained a mystery up until now in the series, is revealed to be a Hydraworm. Specifically, the evolved form of the Douburrow Shining caught in the Grand Desert.
- Rousing Speech: Continuing from last chapter, Flash gives these to Astro and Riptide during their battles against Oaking and Hydraworm respectively, triggering a Heroic Second Wind for both of them and allowing them to go on to win their battles.
- Took a Level in Badass:
- The Douburrow Shining caught in the Grand Desert has evolved into a Hydraworm.
- Though Riptide and Skyler lose to Galladin again like they did in their last battle against it, they put up a much better fight than before, when they were both beaten in one hit each.
- Worthy Opponent: Cadance remarks how this is the first time a challenger has had more Pokémon remaining than Shining Armor by the halfway point, noting how usually the challenger is the one to lose three Pokémon first. Celestia agrees, and remarks that even if Flash loses now, he will go down in the record books for his performance.
