Recap / Pokemon EA 17 Aiming For The Hall Of Fame

Go To

As their time at Camp Everfree nears its end, the final activity of the week is a Double Battle Tournament. Flash and Twilight pair up for the tournament, but to secure their cabin it's place in the hall of fame their final obstacle ends up being Gloriosa Daisy and a very bitter Timber Spruce.

  • Earn Your Happy Ending: It was a long week at camp, with Flash enduring a lot of crap and his friendship with Twilight put to its limit, but by the end of it all the two of them are as close as ever, their cabin won and they get their photos hung in the hall of fame, and Viper evolves into an Anahakka.
  • Locked Out of the Loop: Spike and Doc had no clue about Timber's offer to Twilight to travel with him after camp, so when Flash sarcastically comments that Timber is "taking rejection pretty well", they just give each other confused looks.
  • Never My Fault: When Lightning and Trixie lose to Gloriosa and Timber, Lightning blames Trixie for the loss due to her "getting in his way", even though he refused to work with her during any of the battles, and this led to her Wizentice being knocked out first and his Chimplug getting doubled-teamed. He is called out on this, but refuses to listen and storms out of camp.
  • Not Good with Rejection: Timber is much ruder and bitter to both Flash and Twilight this chapter, due to Twilight turning down his offer to travel with him after camp.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: After he and Trixie lose, Lightning leaves camp early, storming out in a rage.
  • Sore Loser: Lightning blames Trixie for their loss, refusing to listen to anyone arguing that it was his own fault, with him storming out of camp in a rage.
  • Too Much Alike: Twilight notes how she and Timber are really similar to each other, and that contributed to why they got along so well with each other. But she explains that because Timber thinks the way she used to think it caused her to forget everything she learned due to "justifying" that way of thinking, and she won't learn anything new by staying with him, unlike with Flash.
  • Took a Level in Badass: Viper evolves into an Anahakka and learns Flame Wheel.
  • Took a Level in Kindness:
    • Twilight is much friendlier with Flash here compared to the rest of the week after they resolved their problems together. When he cracks a joke early on she giggles at it instead of making a snarking comment at him like usual. She later speaks in his favor against Timber and what he can learn from Flash, instead of the other way around.
    • Viper shows much more kindness and consideration for his teammates during his tag battles with Shine compared to his debut. He ends up jumping in front of a Magical Leaf attack to protect Shine without even needing to be ordered to by Flash. This change is lampshaded by Doc.
