  • Benevolent Boss: Glynn compliments Murphy on "having the balls" to rat on Howell and Brass.

  • Crusading Lawyer: Beecher does pro bono work and pushes to have the guards who abused Stanton fired.

  • Crazy Jealous Guy: Ryan doesn't like how close Neema and Suzanne are getting.

  • Disproportionate Retribution: O'Reily tries to have Redding put a hit on Neema just because he was kind of rude to him and he's jealous of how close Neema is with his mom.

  • Evil Cannot Comprehend Good: Howell doesn't get why Murphy would feel bad about what happened with Morales.

  • Easily Forgiven: While he's initially angry McManus can't bring himself to be mad at Murphy for long and even apologizes to him at the end of the scene.

  • If I Can't Have You…: Keller gets jealous when Beecher is moving on with his life with another woman and manipulates him back into prison as a result.

  • Morality Pet: Pablo has become fond of Stella and doesn't like how coldly Rebadow treats her.

  • Never My Fault: Brass seems to genuinely think it's Martinez and Morales's fault he stole the money for Rebadow's grandkid.

  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Beecher helping Keller's ex wife, Bonnie gets him sent back to Oz.

  • Politically Incorrect Villain The Aryans patronize Alvarez with anti-Latino slurs.

  • Self-Serving Memory: Burr, according to Reggie at least. When Burr upbraids him and Kenaniah for quitting the telemarketing job he claims to have taken them in and taught them the ropes of the drug trade. Reggie scoffs that they were never anything more than foot soldiers to him.

  • Took a Level in Dumbass: McManus has always been known to make bad decisions but none as bad as having Idzik come to Em City.

  • Unwitting Instigator of Doom: Sister Pete telling Keller to focus on the people he cares about gives him the idea to lie about Bonnie being sick.

  • Villainous Friendship: Schillinger and Robson reestablish theirs at the beginning of the episode with Vern gladly using Cutler's death as an excuse to welcome his old pal back to the brotherhood.

  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Burr's way of stopping his men from selling drugs is getting Pancamo and Urbano to repeatedly interfere with their operations.

  • You Are a Credit to Your Race: When Idzik reveals to Schillinger he is Jewish after he is thanked for killing Said, Vern just mutters that he always knew some Jews could be useful.
