Tropes for the episode:

- Big Brother Instinct: Ryan reacts with horror when Adebisi makes him realise there's something wrong with Cyril.
- Disproportionate Retribution: Rebadow's attempt to Kill Busmalis for not involving him in the escape attempt.
- Et Tu, Brute?: Keller is genuinely hurt Beecher could think he'd go as far as to have his son killed.
- Guilt Complex: Basil feels bad about causing his wife so much worry by agreeing to take on this undercover assignment.
- Good Cannot Comprehend Evil: Cyril truly believes Ryan is a good person underneath all of his flaws.
- Honor Before Reason: Mukada refuses to absolve Keller as he can tell he is utterly remorseless for his crimes despite knowing how dangerous of an individual Keller is.
- Jerkass:
- Querns is rather dismissive of Arif when he comes to talk to him.
- Howell rubs that Glynn has had her placed in Em City in McManus's face.
- Kick the Dog: Keller's threats against Mukada
- Loophole Abuse: Attempted by Arif. He sees Supreme Allah as a threat but can't kill him because the Q'ran forbids it so he tried to convince Adebisi to take him out.
- Nice Girl: Sister Pete insists on finishing Nat's nails after his death

- Prison Rape: Adebisi forced one of his underlings to go down on him.
- Pragmatic Villainy:
- Adebisi refuses to Kill Allah as he sees him as a potential ally.
- Keller's desire to be absolved by Mukada comes more out of a desire to save himself from hell than genuine remorse.
- Rejected Apology: Keller rebuffs Beecher's efforts to make amends with him.

- Adebisi of all people as he orders Mondo not to bully Beecher albeit for practical reasons.
- Despite his corruption Querns tries his best to protect Beecher from Vern.
