  • Guilt Complex: Poet tells Said that he hasn't been writing to punish himself for letting him down.

    • Beecher, Keller and Ryan decide to torment Vern by using his son against him
    • Keller tries to make Sister Pete question herself in an effort to win Beecher back.
  • Nepotism: Though Hughes feels he's been treated unfairly, Glynn points out that most others would have gotten a far worse punishment than being transferred to the library if they smuggled an illegal stun gun into the prison.
  • Nice Guy: Mukada shows his compassion once again when he consoles Nappa about having aids.
  • Pay Evil unto Evil: Kenny orders his girlfriend and her boyfriend killed when he suspects they are abusing his son.
  • Revenge by Proxy: Ryan plans to make Andrew overdose to avenge Cyril's rape.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: McManus is understandably skeptical about Beecher's motives in befriending Andrew but agrees to give making him his cellmate a shot after Beecher convinces him he only has pure intentions towards the boy.
