Recap / Orphan Black S 05 E 01 The Few Who Dare

Go To

In the Season 5 premiere, Sarah strives to rescue Cosima while struggling to survive on the island herself. Elsewhere: Cosima reunites with Delphine.

This episode contains examples of:

  • All for Nothing: Sarah treks across the island with an injured leg and dodging a pack of hunters to find and rescue Cosima, only to learn that Cosima doesn't want to leave the island just yet.
  • Bag of Kidnapping: A pair of Neolution agents put a bag over Alison's head while kidnapping her.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Sarah being caught by Rachel
  • Crazy Survivalist: The secret society that Delphine and Cosima find themselves in has been completely isolated for more than a century and is entirely self-sufficient. They grow their own food and get all their resources from the island.
  • Female Misogynist: Maddie, Art's new partner, scorns her old partner for being "overly-versed in sensitivity training."
  • Foreshadowing:
    • Art admits to Felix that he's not sure which of his fellow officers are legitimate cops and which are part of Neolution. His new partner, Maddie, turns out to be Neolution.
    • When Sarah trips, her walking stick impales a wolf carcass. Later, Helena is stabbed in the stomach.
  • I Have Your Wife: Maddie promises not hurt a single clone. Art on the other hand...
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Helena accidentally gets impaled on a stick while saving Donnie from a Neolution agent.
  • Instant Sedation: Sarah gets shot with a tranquilizer and goes down within seconds. Possibly justified, given that Sarah is exhausted and injured, and the adrenaline keeping her upright was already fading.
  • Multinational Team: The village, Revival, has members from all over the world. One of Delphine's patients is a little girl from Afghanistan.
  • Long-Lived: P.T. Westmoreland claims to be 170 years old.
  • Pet the Dog: Rachel injects the stem-cell line into Cosima's uterus for her, hopefully curing her of the clone disease.
  • Shame If Something Happened: Maddie shows Art a picture of his daughter while pressing him for information on the clones.
  • Who Names Their Kid "Dude"?: One of the residents of Revival is a girl named Mud.
