Recap / Martha Speaks S 5 E 15 The Return Of Ralph

Go To

The Lorraines have just bought a new TV, but Ronald shows up and boasts about how his TV is much bigger. Then, Martha sees that the ducks are returning after flying south for the winter. The Lorraines wonder if Ralph (the duck who stayed with, and annoyed, the Lorraines while injured and then pretended to still be injured so they'd keep nursing him) is among them. Ronald reveals that Ralph soon left the Boxwoods after the Mushy Duck show ended.

As the Lorraines set up the TV, Ralph leaves the flock and flies into the Lorraines' yard, then he enters their house. He wants to watch Mushy Duck again, but the Lorraines refuse and Mariella kicks him out. The Lorraines try to watch TV, but find that the channel is changing despite no one having the remote. It turns out to be Ralph on the windowsill.

Everyone except Mariella runs out and Helen snatches the remote from Ralph, but then he follows them inside. Luckily, Mariella sees him and puts him out. The Lorraines watch a nature show, and Ralph begs at the windows and chimney to be let in to watch too, but the Lorraines refuse and promise to not let him take over the TV.

That night, Martha spots Ralph entering through the doggie door. He claims it's "uncomfortable" outside, so Martha allows him to sleep against her. However, he then turns the TV on and wakes Danny. He demands she put Ralph out, while Daniel snatches the remote and turns off the TV.

Then, Danny gets an idea: have Ralph watch the Lorraines' old TV in Helen's treehouse. However, when Helen sees him, she's concerned. She tells the other Lorraines, and it turns out that Ralph is actually a girl and has laid eggs. Seven weeks later, four ducklings hatch out and the Lorraines let them into the house. The duck family insists on watching the Lorraines' TV, claiming to like it better, so Danny returns the TV saying it "attracts too many ducks". Then, Ralph and her ducklings decide to stay with the Boxwoods instead.
