iWill Date Freddie is the 9th episode in the 1st season of iCarly.
When Freddie starts dating a girl named Valerie, she decides to start her own webshow and insists he be her technical producer, which interferes with iCarly. But it isn't long before Carly and Sam discover Valerie is only using Freddie to steal him away, and they must make things right.
Tropes:
- Bitch in Sheep's Clothing: What Valerie turned out to be.
- Camera Abuse: When Jeremy, Carly and Sam's new technical producer who happens to sneeze a lot, waves directly at the camera he uses to record the show, he sneezes directly on it. It sprays snot all over the lens, much to Carly and Sam's disgust. They awkwardly tell him to just wipe it off, which he does.
- Date Peepers: Carly and Sam spy on Freddie's date with a webcam.
- Friendship Moment: When Valerie tries to poach Sam off of iCarly, she pretends to be enticed and immediately tells Carly what happened.
- Gilligan Cut: Valerie wants Sam to be on her webshow with her and Freddie, and when she tells her about this, she tells her not to tell anyone else. Sam assures her she won't. Cut to Carly freaking out over what Sam just told her.
- Jerkass Has a Point: While she is pushy about having Freddie work for HER web show instead of iCarly, Valerie makes several valid arguments in order to convince him to join. She points out how Sam always picks on Freddie and does not act as if he’s an important part of the show, while Carly does little to nothing to stop her behavior.
- Let Me at Him!: When Jeremy shows up to the iCarly set with nose plugs to stop him from sneezing, he eventually does and one of the plugs ends up flying off his face. It lands on Sam's cheek, causing her to enter Tranquil Fury mode and try to beat him up, but Carly holds her back.
- Manipulative Bitch: When Valerie decides to start her own webshow, she wants Freddie to be her technical producer on the same day he does iCarly. When he explains this, she guilt-trips him and points out how he is mistreated by Sam, which convinces him to help her. She attempts to do the same with Sam by pointing out how the show is called "iCarly" and not "Carly and Sam", but it doesn't work.
- Overly Long Gag: Jeremy says that he can't work on iCarly with his sneezing habit, and he quickly leaves the set while sneezing away. He continues doing so as he runs away, and Carly and Sam wait for his loud sneezes to not be heard any more for a good 10 seconds before they start discussing who to hire now.
- Rhymes on a Dime: Mrs. Benson makes Freddie repeat the phrase she uses on appearance, he reluctantly does: "You won’t get respect if you're back's not erect." This causes Carly and Sam to burst out laughing.
- Skewed Priorities: Sam tells Carly that Valerie wants her to quit iCarly to join her show, just like with Freddie, so Carly marches to Freddie, wanting to tell him. As she does this, Sam asks if they can have lunch first. Carly, in disbelief, refuses.
- Still Sucks Thumb: Alluded to when Carly tells Sam that Freddie quit iCarly.Carly: Did you hear? Freddie quit!
Sam: Quit what? Sucking his thumb?
