Original air date: 4/14/2022

Stephanie, a teenage ghost who was murdered by a chainsaw killer on her prom night in 1987, comes down from the attic after sleeping there for a year; Alberta discovers she can communicate with Sam and Jay's new Alexa.

Tropes:

  • Abhorrent Admirer: Stephanie keeps coming on to Trevor, pointing out that they technically have the same age. Because she died as a teenager and he died as an adult, however, Trevor isn't attracted to her sexually.
  • The '80s: 1987, where Stephanie died on her prom night.
  • Forged Message: Sam was led to believe she was pen pals with a French student, but it was all a prank by the mean girls of her class to humiliate her at prom. Others point out that she never questioned it or double checked to see if it was true.
  • A God Am I: After discovering that she can access Sam and Jay's Alexa, Alberta says "I am a God!"
  • Berserk Button: When Sam puts a poster of Stephanie's favorite band, U2, in her room, Hetty lunges at them to take it down, because U2 is from Ireland, and has to be held back by Isaac and Alberta.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Stephanie is jealous of Sam because Trevor has a crush on her, despite being entirely one-sided, much like her own crush on Trevor. She specifically excludes the Livings from her "ghost prom" to spite Sam, and then plays a cruel prank on her.
  • Likes Older Men: Stephanie, who died in 1987, having a crush on Trevor, who passed away in 2000; ironically, both of them were actually born the same year.
  • Product Placement: For Amazon's virtual assistant Alexa.
  • Remember the New Guy?: Stephanie's absence from the show up to this point is Hand Waved as her usually sleeping in the attic most of the year. The other ghosts are well acquainted with her, so she's only new to Sam and Jay.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Instead of listening to a news bulletin about a crazed chainsaw killer that might be in the area, Stephanie’s boyfriend chose to stay in the car to continue making out with Stephanie, even when Stephanie suggests they listen. After her boyfriend convinces Stephanie to stay in the car, they continue making out and are about to have sex just as the killer appears outside the window.
  • What Happened to the Mouse?: We know that Stephanie was murdered by an escaped prisoner with a chainsaw, but what happened to her boyfriend? Did he also get violently murdered and move on to the afterlife straight away? Did he become a ghost for a short while and then get “sucked off?” Or did he manage to escape and run off without Stephanie to save his own skin?
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Sam to Pete when he unwittingly takes part in Stephanie's "prank".
