♫ Every day, the world begins again. Sunny skies or rain, Come and follow me. ♫
Doc decides to convert an old, deserted room into a workshop. Meanwhile, Gobo's Uncle Matt is exploring the last uncharted cave of Fraggle Rock. In it is a strange tunnel, seemingly blocked. But when Doc removes a crate from in front of a hole in a wall of the workshop, a tunnel is revealed that leads to Outer Space, which had been regarded as just a legend.

Uncle Matt tells Gobo of his discovery and his plans to travel to Outer Space, leaving him his maps and book and instructing him to go to Outer Space every few days to collect the postcards he'll send back. Gobo doesn't want to do this because of a "fearsome beast"—Doc's dog, Sprocket. He tells his uncle he refuses, but Matt, oblivious, goes off to explore Outer Space.

Unsure of what to do, Gobo goes to get the advice of the Trash Heap, who says to ask his friends for help. When he tells them about Sprocket, they come with him, waiting just inside the tunnel while he searches Doc's workshop for the first postcard. He finds it but gets caught by Sprocket on the way back. Mokey saves Gobo by throwing Sprocket his ball, which had rolled into the tunnel.

This episode contains examples of:

  • Chekhov's Gun: While's he working, Doc tells Sprocket to play with his ball. Unseen by Doc, the ball rolls into the hole. Later, Mokey throws it to Sprocket to make him let go of Gobo.
  • Crowd Song: "Hip Hip Hooray," sung by all the Fraggles in the Great Hall.
  • Eating Solves Everything: Including Wembley's problem of being trapped by the construction the Doozers have built around him.
Wembley: It's a good thing I'm hungry. I can eat my way to freedom.
  • Establishing Series Moment: The episode introduces all of the principal characters, settings, and worlds, and several songs open the show in quick succession.
  • Exact Eavesdropping: Gobo, while searching the workshop for the first postcard, overhears Doc reading the postcard aloud after bringing in the mail.
Doc: [looking at postcard] What's this? "Gobo Fraggle." Now, why would mail to Gobo Fraggle be coming here? Ah, well.
[Gobo, peeking out from behind a wooden crate, watches Doc drop the postcard into the wastebasket.]
Doc: Well, I'd better go out and get the rest of the tools in.
[Doc walks out the door and offscreen. Gobo heads straight for the wastebasket.]
  • Everything Is an Instrument: Wembley plays a tune on a Doozer construction.
  • Foreshadowing: At the end of the episode, Sprocket is barking into the Fraggle hole. Doc says not to worry, because he'll board it up one day. He does just that in the episode "Don't Cry Over Spilt Milk"—while Gobo is in Outer Space.
  • Forgot to Mind Their Head:
    • While he and Gobo are on the way to Outer Space to get Uncle Matt's postcard, Wembley bumps his head on a low-hanging pipe.
    • This also happens to Uncle Matt, just before he discovers the tunnel to Outer Space.
  • Great Big Book of Everything:
    • Uncle Matt leaves Gobo his book about Fraggle Rock.
    • Boober has a book of superstitions.
  • Instantly Proven Wrong: Gobo, reading about Fraggles and their poise in Uncle Matt's book, gets interrupted by Red crashing in.
Uncle Matt: [voiceover] Fraggles naturally have physical prowess and a dancelike grace...
[Red, swinging on a vine, immediately falls into Gobo's room.]
    Gobo: Oh, hi, Red.
  • Leaning on the Fourth Wall: Gobo veers into this territory while reading aloud about Fraggle Rock.
  • Meaningful Rename: Uncle Matt renames himself after deciding to venture into Outer Space.
Uncle Matt: Think of me as Traveling Matt.
  • No Listening Skills: When Matt tells Gobo to promise him to go to Outer Space to collect postcards, Gobo refuses, but Matt is oblivious.
Uncle Matt: Thank you for promising me.
  • One-Word Title: The episode's title.
  • Safe Under Blankets: Lampshaded by Boober, after Gobo tells his friends that Uncle Matt's gone into Outer Space.
Gobo: And now I have to go out into that same room every few days.
    Mokey: Oooh!
    Gobo: What should I do?
Boober: You should crawl under the covers and moan and whimper!
  • Shout-Out: To Star Trek: The Original Series, when Uncle Matt calls Outer Space "the final frontier for Fraggledom."
  • Staircase Tumble: Right after Red falls into Gobo's room, Wembley tumbles down the stairs leading into it.
Wembley: [running in] Gobo, Gobo! Did Red fall this way?
[He crashes into Red, who is standing in the doorway, sending them both falling down the stairs.]
Gobo: Uh... yeah, Wembley. Sort of that way.
  • Triumphant Reprise: After he returns to Fraggle Rock with the postcard, Gobo and his friends sing a slightly extended version of "Hip Hip Hooray."
  • Wanderlust Song: "Follow Me," sung by Gobo and Uncle Matt.
  • You Are Better Than You Think You Are: When Gobo tells the Trash Heap there's a "terrible monster" living in Outer Space, she reminds him that he got past the Gorgs when coming to see her.
The Trash Heap: You should worry for monsters. You made it past the Gorgs or you wouldn't be here!
  • You Are Not Alone: What the Trash Heap tells Gobo when he says he feels alone.
Gobo: I just feel so alone.
The Trash Heap: Alone? Then don't be alone. Get some friends. Friends help.
  • You Wouldn't Believe Me If I Told You: In Outer Space, Uncle Matt walks into a street, where a car nearly hits him. He runs out of the road and into a yellow fire hydrant, which he apologizes to for the collision. Moments later, he sees some kids with baseball bats, and thinking they're armed, ducks for cover.
Uncle Matt: [writing in a notepad] So far, I have been attacked by a large beast, run into an unfriendly yellow fellow, and escaped from an army carrying deadly weapons. [Looks up from writing.] If I put this in a message to Gobo, he'll never believe it. I'll just say I'm fine.
