What If Qui-Gon Jinn Trained Anakin Skywalker?

Often it has been pondered in the Star Wars fan community just how the Prequel Trilogy might've gone if Qui-Gon Jinn survived his encounter against Darth Maul to train Anakin Skywalker in the ways of the Force.

This Fanscription contains examples of:

  • Accidental Hero: Walter suggests the possibility that Jar Jar Binks of all people might've destroyed the Trade Federation Droid Control ship with his clumsiness.
  • Adaptational Early Appearance: General Grevious is present in the Battle on Geonosis, earlier than his original appearance in both Clone Wars animated series, and Revenge of the Sith.
  • Adaptational Personality Change: Anakin becomes more of a charismatic snarkster than in canon that is more prone to mouthing out at authority, and covers up his latent fear and anger with his wittiness. Though training under Qui-Gon has made him more mindful in controlling his emotions than in canon. His brief relationship with Obi-Wan is also more friendly than in the later parts of the Prequels.
  • Adaptational Relationship Overhaul: It is revealed that Shmi Skywalker had another child while married to Cliegg Lars. It is revealed in the following Fanscription that Anakin's brother turns out to be Luke Skywalker.
  • Big Damn Heroes: The Jedi Masters arriving to save Qui-Gon, Padme and Anakin from the Geonosians and Trade Federation Droid army, and soon after are saved by Yoda and the Clone Trooper army's arrival; same as in the original version of Episode II.
  • Celibate Hero: From Qui-Gon's teachings, Anakin is far more reluctant to express his feelings of romantic desire towards Padme, until closer to the end of the Fanscription.
    Anakin: Attachment is forbidden.
    Padme: Is love?
  • Death by Adaptation: Obi-Wan ends up dying in Qui-Gon's place; impaled by Maul's lightsaber blade, and dying in Anakin's arms.
  • Heroic Sacrifice: Obi-Wan, leaping in front of Anakin who ended up getting too close to the action as Maul attempts to strike the boy down; taking the attack meant for Skywalker.
  • Interrupted Declaration of Love: Padme is about to declare her love towards Anakin moments before the both of them are sent out into the Coliseum on Geonosis to their potential death.
  • It's Been Done: Walter and Rob were initially hesitant in tackling a Fanscription based around the Star Wars prequels, due to there being an influx of videos already out online of how other people would've fixed the Prequel Trilogy. However, they would eventually decide to work on a Prequel story with both this Fanscription (and the follow-up based around Revenge of the Sith) and one with Ahsoka being more involved with the main plot of Revenge of the Sith.
  • Join or Die: Invoked by Dooku towards Qui-Gon, who angrily refuses due to the matter of Anakin getting threatened with death by the Geonosians. Crosses with Rage Against the Mentor.
Qui-Gon Jinn: Is this what you've become, Master Dooku? Threatening your own kind? You can't simply impose your will as you see fit! Peace is not something you can coerce!
Count Dooku: Then you have made your choice?
Qui-Gon Jinn: It seems so, my old Master.
  • Papa Wolf: Qui-Gon is more protective of Anakin due to his firm belief of Anakin being the Chosen One, though he reluctantly allows Anakin to watch over Padme whilst Qui-Gon investigates the force behind the assassination attempts on her life.
  • Rage Breaking Point: Just like in canon, Anakin having his mother Shmi die in his arms after her brutalization by the Tusken Raiders- complied with memories of watching Obi-Wan die saving his life from Maul- leads a vengeful Anakin to slaughter the Tusken Raiders. And not just the men; but the women, and the children too. Anakin grows more remorseful afterwards of what he's done however.
  • Sequel Hook: Padme and Anakin confess their love to each other on Naboo, the Clone Army is ready to be deployed as the Clone Wars begin, and Count Dooku secretly plans his revenge against Sidious with his own apprentice... a cybernetically-enhanced Maul.
  • We Can Rule Together: Invoked by Dooku towards Qui-Gon, just as he did to Obi-Wan in Attack of the Clones.
