What If Venom Wasn't In Spider Man 3?

Spider-Man 3 may still be the highest grossing Spider-Man film at the worldwide box office, but it left audiences with a bad taste in their mouths, ending Sam Raimi's acclaimed trilogy. Many complained of the film being too crowded with multiple storylines that just didn't quite fit together. Chief among those arcs was the misuse of Spider-Man's most popular antagonist. Venom. But what if the symbiote was removed from the film entirely? What if they focused on properly finishing the stories of the characters we had been following for 5 years at that point? What if we got a version of this movie that was on the same level as the first 2?

This Fanscription contains examples of:

  • Adaptational Villainy: Instead of performing a Heel–Face Turn, Harry becomes the Hobgoblin and becomes the final main antagonist in this rewrite.
  • Death by Adaptation: Mary Jane and George Stacy die in the climax, with MJ's death borrowing heavily from Gwen Stacy's own death in the comics as Peter tries, and ultimately fails, to save her after she's dropped from a bridge by Harry.
  • Downer Ending: Mary Jane, Harry, George Stacy and an untold number of New Yorkers are dead, with a grief and guilt-stricken Peter being left to pick up the pieces.
