Recap / Disventure Camp Reach For The Stars

Go To

Tropes in this episode include:

  • The Bus Came Back: This being an All Stars season, it's a given, with part of the casts of both Season 1 and Season 2 being back to compete again. The most notable example of this trope, however, is the return of Derek and Trevor as interns, given that they have been arrested at the end of Season 1.
  • Crying Wolf: Discussed. During one of the interviews Ellie gave after Season 1 was over, she said that if Miriam has a heart attack, she will "let her go towards the light", implying that after what happened in the Season 1 finale, she will assume Miriam is tricking her again.
  • Hated by All:
    • Downplayed with Ellie. Because of the post-season interviews she gave two years before, not to speak of her actions during her debut season, most of the cast can't stand her (specially Tom), and her only friends at the beginning of All Stars are her girlfriend Gabby, Ashley (that seems to have forgiven Ellie for insulting her in the aforementioned interviews), and Tess, who she met in college, outside of the show.
    • Played straight with Fiore, given that not even Alec wants anything to do with her after Fiore betrayed him towards the end of Season 1.
  • I Lied: Krystal tells the contestants that the plane has no clearance to land on Camp Tipiskaw, so they have to jump and use parachutes. After every contestant jumps, Oliver asks where his parachute is, and Krystal reveals that she was just lying and that the plane will land soon.
  • Mistaken for Gay: In-universe, when Yul reveals that Grett is his girlfriend, Riya and Jake express their surprise, as both of them thought Yul was gay.
  • Nun Too Holy: The nun at Fiore's school isn't above accepting bribes.
  • Only in It for the Money:
    • When Emily asks Alec what is his motivation to return to the show, he bluntly answers that he's just interested in the prize money.
    • Ellie comments that she gave the post-season interviews Emily showed in part because she needed the money she got for them.
  • Pet the Dog: Krystal lies to the contestants and says that they have to jump of the plane, as they can't land on Camp Tipiskaw. However, she doesn't make Oliver jump off the plane and lets him remain on it until they land.
  • Rags to Riches: Riya may have lost the prize money in season 2, but she was still able to become a famous actress after the show was over.
  • Screw the Rules, I Have Money!:
    • Krystal bribes a nun at the school Fiore is at to let her off the hook.
    • Krystal also pays Derek and Trevor's bails. Gabby even lampshades it.
Gabby: Does money solve everything these days?
  • Took a Level in Cheerfulness: After a one year time skip, Tess looks more cheerful than in her debut season.
