Tropes

  • Arbitrary Skepticism: Hiro and Ruli don't seem particularly concerned about the fact that people have mysteriously been vanishing from a mansion where a Digimon is staying at, dismissing the reports as just rumors. A Justified case since they have no reason to suspect Angoramon's friend being a vicious man-eater.
  • Armor-Piercing Question: With his dying breath, Digitamamon asks Angoramon if he is now more human than Digimon due to his time in the Digital World.
  • Attack Its Weak Point: SymbareAngoramon destroys Digitamamon by slashing as a crack in his shell around the opening exposing the latter's eyes.
  • Bookworm: Angoramon and Digitamamon became friends due to their shared love of knowledge and would often spend their days in the Digital World reading documents about Digimon biology and history.
  • Downer Ending: Though SymbareAngoramon was able to save Ruli and the others, he is forced to kill his old friend Digitamamon, unable to find out why he acquired an appetite for humans.
  • Evil Former Friend: Digitamamon and Angoramon were close friends in the Digital World. In the present, they are put on opposite sides due to Digitamamon becoming a man-eating monster, forcing Angoramon to kill him when he tries to eat Ruli.
  • Horror Hunger: Digitamamon was hit with an intense and powerful hunger when he manifested into the human world.
  • I'm a Humanitarian: Digitamamon developed a taste for human flesh and souls upon manifesting in the human world.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Just how badly did SymbareAngoramon get shaken up with having to kill Digitamamon? He doesn't end the episode in his usual Hurricane of Aphorisms like he does every other episode. The moment Digitamamon's last words linger on to SymbareAngoramon, he's dead silent for the remainder of the episode.
  • Reduced to Dust: The humans Digitamamon ate are turned to sand.
  • Riddle for the Ages: Digitamamon stated that he became insatiably hungry when he materialized into the human world. We never know what specifically happened, if not randomly, and whatever reason died with him when SymbareAngoramon had to kill him.
  • Urban Legend: Digitamamon's man-eating behavior was so notorious, that people start spreading tales about his residence and called it the "Man-Eating Mansion" where people supposedly rented it and were never seen again. Hiro and Ruli initially brushed it off until Digitamamon tried to eat Ruli and Hiro saw him and Angoramon breaking out from a window fighting.
  • Wham Shot: SymbareAngoramon executing Digitamamon with no form of Calling Your Attacks present after realizing Digitamamon wouldn't listen to reason. SymbareAngoramon is the first protagonist Digimon who unambiguously makes the decision to Mercy Kill the Digimon of the Week, his former best friend, and the aftermath haunts him so bad he doesn't end the episode with any form of poetry.
  • Your Soul Is Mine!: The spirits of the humans Digitamamon consumes are absorbed into his body.
