In 1953, the disfigured bodies of two boys are exhumed at a construction site, the future location of Winden's power plant.


Tropes:

  • Accidental Time Travel: Ulrich has accidentally travelled to the year 1953.
  • Bad Future: The stranger tells Tannhaus that he needs to change the future because something terrible has happened there.
  • The Conspiracy: Bernd Doppler suspects the bodies were left there by the coal authorities to discredit Germany's nuclear power plant industry.
  • Excrement Statement: Helge's bullies urinate on him after stealing his money.
  • Failed a Spot Check: Ulrich somehow didn't notice the other 2 missing kids ending up dead in 1953 match the description back in 2019.
  • Giving Radio to the Romans: An accidental variant. Ulrich forgets his jacket at Tannhaus's clock shop and the latter discovers his smartphone.
  • Kid from the Future: Ulrich meets his parents as children as well as his grandmother in 1953.
  • Mr. Exposition: Tannhaus informs the stranger about the importance of 33, the wormholes, time-travel, as well as a small description of Stable Time Loop.
  • Rule of Three: Tannhaus explains to the stranger the significance of the number three: There are three dimensions, the future, the present and the past. They are represented by the Triquetra symbol. Furthermore, every 33 years the sun and the moon align in a special way that also aligns the three dimensions.
  • String Theory: On a wall in a windowless room, there are photos showing the characters from different times connected by strings.
  • What Year Is This?: After ending up in 1953, Ulrich asks Mrs Nielsen what year it is.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Ulrich is convinced that Helge will be responsible for the deaths of the disappeared boys, including his son and brother, and tries to prevent these things from ever happening. He smashes a rock against Helge's head, giving him his prominent scar.
