Recap / Dan Vs S 2 E 31 Dan Vs The Wedding

Go To

Dan’s former girlfriend, Hortence, is getting married, and Dan is dealing with some emotional issues.

This episode contains examples of the following Tropes:

  • Amicable Exes: All of Jeremiah Burger's 6 ex wives are in attendance at his seventh wedding and they're all on good terms with him and Hortence.
  • Be Careful What You Wish For: Zig-zagged, Dan plots to ruin the wedding in order to get Hortence back, only for that to utterly fail, but when he isn't trying to ruin the wedding, he succeeds in ruining it, but either way, does not wind up with Hortence.
  • The Bus Came Back: Both Hortence and Jeremiah Burger from the episode "Dan vs. Burgerphile" return in this episode.
  • The Alleged Plane: Duct tape is, predictably, used to keep the plane together.
  • Cannot Spit It Out: Dan, when he tries to tell Hortence he loves her.
  • Curse Cut Short: When Elise is dragging Dan out of the passenger seat, he screams "Get off me you filthy wh-!"
  • Entitled to Have You: Dan claims Hortence can't be happy with Jeremiah because "she's supposed to be with me."
  • Fat Bastard: Averted with Jeremiah Burger. He's genuinely in love with Hortence and only had Dan thrown out of the wedding rehearsal because he was making a scene.
    • He also doesn't take credit for Dan's sky-writing when Hortence thinks it was his idea.
  • Genius Ditz: Hortence, who earlier mistook Latin for French, shows she's a professional businesswoman here.
  • Hair Flip: Hortence, after taking off her hat.
  • I Want My Beloved to Be Happy: Subverted. While Dan does eventually let Hortense go, he plans to get back together with her when Jeremiah Burger dies.
  • Ship Sinking: "Dan vs. Burgerphile" heavily pushed for Dan and Hortence to be a couple. However, as of this episode, Hortence makes it clear she wants to be with Jeremiah Burger now.
