Craig is determined to catch the monster that has been wreaking havoc in Grandad's garden.

Tropes:

  • Are We There Yet?: At the beginning of the episode, the Williams are driving to their grandparents’ house and Craig excitedly asks his mom when they’re going to get there.
Nicole: When you sit your behind back in that seat o’clock.
  • Complexity Addiction: Craig starts off the brainstorming session with his Grandad by drawing a map that includes his grandparents’ backyard, the Duckmart, Florida, and even Europe.
  • *Crack!* "Oh, My Back!": Grandad is announcing to Craig that they need a plan when he straightens up too fast and throws out his back.
    Grandad: Get your grandma!
  • Dramatic Drop: Craig and his Grandad drop their staff and their shovel respectively when they see that the garden monster has struck again despite the fence that they made.
  • Fun T-Shirt: The sayings on Granny Jojo’s sweatshirts in this episode include “Fight Me” when she’s showing Jessica pictures of her suffragette past, “Trust Me” when she’s telling Craig and Earl that playing with traps is dangerous, and “On It” when shes telling her neighbor that she’ll call the City Bureau of Fence Services about the hole in the fence.
  • Like Father, Like Son: Or, in this case, Like Grandfather, Like Grandson. This is the first episode the Williams kids’ grandparents appear in and it becomes very clear just how much Craig and his Grandad are alike - from their appearances and the way they talk, to their hobbies and even their love of overly-complicated plans.
  • Malaproper: Jessica pronounces "constituents" as "constipatients". Jojo immediately realizes Jessica is messing with her.
  • The Marvelous Deer: The culprit for eating the garden vegetables turns out to be a white-tailed deer doe, which gracefully stands on top of a rock underneath the moonlight before fleeing into the woods.
  • Mystery Episode: The plot of this episode revolves around Craig trying to solve the mystery of what’s eating the vegetables out of his grandparents’ garden.
  • Oddball Doppelgänger: While Craig is visiting his grandparents, J.P. spends his weekend hanging out with Greg and Chelsey. They dress similarly to Craig and Kelsey, but have completely different faces, Greg has an English accent, and Chelsey has a lizard instead of a parrot. Somehow J.P. didn't notice the difference.
  • Patience Plot: Craig learns that sometimes the best solution to a problem is simply to have patience.
  • Piranha Problem: One of Craig's plans to secure the garden is to dig a moat around it and fill it with piranhas. They ditch the idea when Earl questions if the garden monster is piranha-proof.
  • Sticky Situation: Craig lays a bunch of glue-covered sheets of paper as a trap around the garden. He ends up with every single one stuck to him after trying to go after the monster.
  • Wolf Man: Craig hypothesizes that a "vegan werewolf" may be behind the garden-raiding. He's wrong.
