"You should have been there. Or at least I should have gone with somebody else."

A Plot: After the town is upset at Lacey for staying open during the air show, she goes about trying to prove her loyalty. However, every step she takes just makes things worse.

B Plot: Corner Gas takes a business hit when it has to shut down due to a health hazard. Suddenly Brent is low on cash and Hank is in the money, having opened a lucrative corn stand.

C Plot: The DRPD are given bicycles for more up close community policing, but Karen has to hide the fact that she never learned to ride.

Tropes Referenced:

  • Bread, Eggs, Breaded Eggs:
Hank: People like petting zoos, people like kissing booths.
Brent: Yeah, but a kissing zoo? That's a bad idea. What's this idea, a petting booth?
Wanda: Heavy petting booth, there's your money maker.
  • Brick Joke: We see a flashback of Oscar wrecking a young Brent's bike by accidentally backing over it with the car. At the end of the episode, after Karen has finally learned to ride a bike, Oscar accidentally backs over hers too. Then, in the very last scene, as the Snow Birds are driving away (in formation), they accidentally drive over Davis' bike too.
  • Description Cut:
Karen: Didn't you teach Brent how to ride a bike?
[Flashback: Oscar backs the car over a young Brent's bike, Brent cries]
Oscar: Brent was never into bikes for some reason...
  • Department of Redundancy Department: Brent on the air show:
Brent: It's not just about planes. They got all kinds of books about planes and... a whole buncha planes.
  • Eagleland Osmosis: Lacey puts up a jet poster in the Ruby to show her appreciation for planes. However, it's an American jet, not a Canadian one, so the townspeople get more upset.
  • Inflationary Dialogue: The level 5 health hazard at Corner Gas. Brent tries to pass it off as level 3 or "a high 4". Lacey calls it level 6.
  • Insistent Terminology: Karen, Davis and Fitzy have an argument about whether or not two separate incidents (three years apart) should be considered a "rash" of vandalism. Later the "rash" is upgraded to a "spree".
  • Insurance Fraud: At the end of the episode, Hank's corn stand mysteriously burns to the ground. The next day, his truck has a brand new sound system in it, since "luckily" he had gotten fire insurance the day before the fire.
  • Ironic Echo: Brent asks to borrow money from Hank, who gleefully shoots back with "Is that like your official greeting now?", which Brent said to Hank when he asked to borrow money in a previous episode.
  • My Greatest Failure: Karen is very ashamed that she never learned to ride a bike.
  • No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Every one of Lacey's attempts to prove she likes the air show get shot down by the townspeople.
  • Popcorn on the Cob: When Hank's corn stand burns to the ground, Oscar complains that the corn isn't popping. Wanda starts to explain why it's impossible for fresh corn to pop, only for the corn to actually start popping in the middle of her sentence, shutting her up.
  • A Simple Plan: Lacey tricks the Snowbirds into doing a flyover of Dog River to show everyone she likes planes. After hinting throughout the morning, she brings everyone outside at noon. When the Snowbirds aren't right on time, the people start to get bored. Then they all leave when they learn Hank's corn stand is on fire. Of course, as soon as everyone's gone, Lacey watches in exasperation as the Snowbirds do their flyover.
  • Strange Minds Think Alike: Both Hank and Kirk Berkeley think selling corn and turkey jerky in the same place is a bad idea because it "muddies the brand".
  • Swapped Roles: Brent is suddenly broke due to Corner Gas's health hazard and is hitting up Hank for cash, who now has plenty of it because of his corn stand. Wanda even starts working at the corn stand as Hank's assistant and "Scorch!" provider.
  • Title Drop
  • Unfortunate Names: Kirk Berkeley, who sells turkey jerky. This is not lost on Hank.
