Lauren learns Daniel has been stalking her. Scott interviews for a headmaster position at a private school. Marla frets when a student, who is a convicted sex offender, asks an underage girl to prom. Marilyn's suspicions shift to Jeremy after he adopts a new look and personality.
Tropes present in the episode:
- All for Nothing: Played for Laughs. Harvey speaks favorably of Scott in the hopes that he'll leave Winslow, but Scott is passed over for the headmaster job.
- Batman Gambit: Harvey gives Scott a glowing recommendation, hoping Scott will get the job and thus leave Winslow. It doesn't take.Harvey: Scott, I don't get too many chances to get you the hell out of Winslow. Believe me, I wouldn't waste the opportunity.
- Big "SHUT UP!": Daniel to Lauren while cornering her in her apartment.
- Consummate Liar: Harry tries to get through to Daniel, who spins lies about Lauren stalking him. He later informs Lauren about this, remarking if he didn't know Lauren, he would've believed Daniel's claims.
- Could Say It, But...: When Scott busts Marla on attempting to disclose personal info about R.J., Marla replies:Marla: Let me tell you something, Scott—I can't call you a big, giant ass because that would be insubordination. But you can't stop me from thinking you're a big, giant ass. So I think you're a big, giant ass!
- Dramatic Sit-Down: Scott's reaction after he's informed he didn't get the headmaster position.
- Green-Eyed Monster: Scott accuses Steven of jealousy after he learns Steven's remarks played a huge factor in him being passed over for the headmaster position. Steven begs to differ.
- Lawful Stupid: Steven claims this is Scott's biggest flaw, stating he's too focused on the rules than the students.
- Manly Tears: Steven breaks down as he admits to Scott that he also didn't want to lose him as a co-worker and a friend.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: Jeremy, originally a Nervous Wreck, is now confident and edgy. This makes Marilyn suspicious.
- Platonic Declaration of Love: Steven to Scott as he explains why he gave him an otherwise glowing recommendation despite his belief that he isn't ready for it.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: Steven gives Scott one after Scott accuses him of being jealous of his ambition to be headmaster.
- Screw This, I'm Outta Here: Scott storms out in the middle of Steven's rebuke of him.
- Speak in Unison: Steven and Scott simultaneously groan "Now what?" after Louisa comes in to report Harry's latest antics. They then say "I'll take Harry!" when Louisa announces Marla is waiting to speak with them. Scott ends up talking to Marla.
- Stalker with a Crush: Daniel turns out to be one. Lauren finds a photo album filled with pictures of her going back to when she was dating Harry. When she breaks up with Daniel, he keeps stalking her.
- Take a Third Option: Marla is forbidden by law to share R.J.'s status as a sex offender. She tries to buck the system, but ultimately decides to remain quiet. She then cautions R.J. to not make her regret doing so.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Steven gives Harry a minor one for bringing the Suicide Club on the web.
- You Are Not Ready: Steven asserts Scott isn't ready to be a headmaster because he's too much of an authoritarian.
