Recap / Batman Wayne Family Adventures Episode 110 Dont Be Mad

Go To

Orphan and Spoiler return to Oracle after patrol. Their first reaction? An ominous request that she not get mad.

This episode includes examples of the following tropes:

  • Ain't Too Proud to Beg: Played for Laughs: when Barbara says that they have to tell Bruce what happened, Cass and Stephanie both give her cute eyes and ask her sweetly not to make them give Bruce the bad news.
  • Continuity Nod: When Steph asks if Barbara would believe aliens were responsible for the lost drone, an image of Superman appears over her shoulder, along with a flying saucer and a green man.
  • Don't Tell Mama: A variant; Stephanie and Cassandra seem okay with Barbara telling Bruce about the situation, but they don't want to have to explain it to him personally.
  • Exact Words: When Barbara asks if they lost the expensive drone they were using, Stephanie and Cass act offended, saying that they know exactly where the drone is. The problem is, it's in the harbor.
  • Face Palm: The episode closes on Barbara shoving her face into one hand while regretting helping her "sisters".
  • Feathered Fiend: Somehow what went wrong on patrol involved Cassandra fighting a flock of seagulls. Said seagulls also prevented her from retrieving the drone before it sank.
  • Never My Fault: Stephanie tries to pin the blame for losing the drone on Gary, who was piloting it. She claims that he should have been driving the car instead. Barbara points out that Stephanie let a civilian pilot an extraordinarily expensive piece of equipment. Stephanie still suggests Barbara blame it on Gary when she tells Bruce.
  • Noodle Incident: Stephanie refers to the birds astonishingly betraying them somehow, which related to how they lost the drone. She never explains how or why she refers to it as betrayal.
  • Platonic Kissing: Stephanie and Cassandra both give Barbara a kiss of gratitude on the cheek after she agrees that they don't have to tell Bruce how they lost the drone.
  • Reasonable Authority Figure: When Cass and Steph come in, clearly having done something wrong, Barbara doesn't agree not to get mad, but she promises not to judge the situation prematurely.
  • Surveillance Drone: The lost drone was for surveillance; Stephanie mentions that she was in a high-speed pursuit of the second target while Gary was using the drone to follow the first. Then catastrophe struck.
