Tsuyoshi: The Donbrothers can now power up further with Robotaro forms.
But... I still haven't realized something strange is going on with my dearest Miho.

The cafe Donbura hires a new part-timer, a budding idol known by the Stage Name "Kilala Kira". The cafe's atmosphere has changed ever since, with fans coming by every day. Not impressed by this, Haruka decides to have Taro stand in for her part-time job. Just then, another officer pursuing Tsubasa comes by, to which Taro says he's seen Tsubasa. Fully aware that Taro can't lie, Haruka and the others attempt to get Taro to practice lying...

Tropes

  • Cannot Tell a Lie: When the team tries to get Taro to lie, he ends up choking on his words before passing out to the point where he's briefly dead.
  • Can't Take Criticism: Tarou grades Haruka’s food as a 25, causing her to declare that she will never make it again.
  • Clap Your Hands If You Believe:
    • Kirara is revealed to be faking it as an upcoming idol in order to make her grandfather happy, and gets called out by the Donbrothers about this. Despite this, her hard work eventually allows her to debut as a legitimate idol.
    • During the fight against Uchu-King on an elevated platform, Shinichi suggests Don Onitaijin to dive off, which Taro impulsively follows. As the Giant Mecha falls, Tsuyoshi desperately cries for the mecha to fly, which it suddenly does thanks to his own wings.
      Tsuyoshi: FLYYYYY!!!
Don Onitaijin grows wings and flies
      The Donbrothers: WE'RE ACTUALLY FLYING!?
  • Compulsive Liar: Kilala claims she only became one to make her grandfather happy, though she's not too happy about it after her lies are revealed.
  • Contrived Coincidence: A famous idol named Karin just so happened to come by Donbura, with Kaito revealing that she too had also previously worked part-time there. Upon being asked by Kilala's fans about being her sister, she outright reveals Kilala lied about this to gain popularity via association, causing Kilala's fans to lose faith in her.
  • Crying Wolf: Downplayed. Kirara faked being attacked by Uchuu-ki at first, so when she's attacked for real later in the episode, Shinichi and the others aren't as receptive. Thankfully, Taro realizes she actually is in danger.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending:
    • Taro makes up to his colleague Kiriyama by sending him to meet his mother right before she leaves, and gifted him an entire packet of melon crackers to present to her as well. Kiriyama gratefully thanks Taro and asks him to come back to work, knowing he means well.
    • Kilala manages to debut as an idol. Upon seeing this, Taro gains a refreshed take on his views over truth and lies as well.
  • O.O.C. Is Serious Business:
    • Played for Laughs. Kaito gets briefly disturbed when Haruka breaks the serving dish out of annoyance over Kilala. When he asks why, she only calls him off, which throws him off even more.
    • Taro looks incredibly unnerved when he wakes up from his spasm, apparently unaware that this happens to him when he even tries to tell a lie, before swiftly resuming his Brutal Honesty against Kilala.
  • Rage Quit: Tsubasa is willing to do this when he combines with the others into Don Onitaijin.
Tsubasa: Fuck this, I’m getting out of here.
  • Title Drop: The meaning of the title comes in a conversation that Sonoi has with Taro about the latter's inability to lie, as he mentions the moon being a liar as it's only shining because it reflects light from the sun.
  • What the Hell, Hero?: Happens to Taro twice due to his inability to tell a lie:
    • His co-workers call him out on ratting out his colleague Kiriyama to the boss for taking all the melon crackers. As punishment Kiriyama is forced to clean the entire office for a week and is unable to visit his mother. They even tell Taro to not come to work tomorrow or else they will quit.
    • His teammates call him out on telling the police were Tsubasa went since they told him about Tsubasa's innocence and circumstances.
  • Why Did It Have to Be Snakes?: Tsubasa is revealed to have acrophobia, which happens when Don Onitaijin grows big as well as when Uchu-King makes an elevated platform in the Nōto Layer for their duel.
