With the limiter still intact and all hope seemingly lost, Diesel's only chance of saving anime is to help a brainwashed Joe rediscover his undying love for Japanese animation.
"The Saddest Anime Death of All Time" provides examples of:
- Bittersweet Ending: Joe destroys the limiter, freeing the city and its access to anime, but at the cost of his own life. Even worse, he flubs the Cowboy Bebop reference he was trying to make with his dying breath.
- Even Evil Has Loved Ones: Satirized. When Nancy lazily throws in how she did everything to bring Diesel back, her minions gush how "complicated and nuanced villain" she is, ignoring the fact that Nancy is transparently doing it for her own personal gain. It does nothing to sway Diesel, even pistol-whipping her.
- Heroic RRoD: Joe's love for anime is so powerful that it manifests as an Over Clocking Attack that destroys the limiter, but the rebound from his Shock Collar takes his life.
- Take That!: The brainwashed and evil Joe remarks that Minions is a "stellar" alternative to anime.
- Transformation Is a Free Action: Joe's love of anime manifests as a powerful yell and energy burst that goes on for over three minutes. Nancy and his minions do nothing but watch in horror.
- Too Many Halves: By the time Joe is let out of the Binge Chamber, his love of anime is at -1000%. By the time he regains it and destroys the limiter, it has reached past 90000000000%.
