Tropes:

  • Applicability: The episode is actually about the Arab-Israeli conflict, but it can easily be interpreted as being about how different sects of a same religion (like Islam) keep fighting each other. The founder of Yil's and Salem's religions being the same guy helps this interpration.
  • Artistic License – Gun Safety: The goat uses a rifle's muzzle to crank open a wooden crate. It may be unloaded, but that should propably do some kind of damage to the gun.
  • Arms Dealer: Dolf has become this, selling to Yil.
  • The Bad Guy Wins: Dolf's weapon shipment is taken by the Yil government, and it's unclear if they were supposed to go to the government or not, but he had already been paid for it.
  • Briefcase Full of Money: Dolf gets one from the goat. It's propably foreign money because Waterland only appears to use gold coins.
  • Evil Laugh:
    • Dolf laughs after he's gotten his money and the goat has left.
    • The head guard after locking up Alfred, Stoppel, and Kells.
  • Unspoken Plan Guarantee: Played with. Dolf never actually explains his smuggling plan to the goat, and it doesn't directly come up in his conversatiin with Lispel, but he does explain Lispel his plan to drug Stoppel's sailors.
  • Freeze-Frame Bonus: Dolf has changed his mustache style - now it's more a thin horizontal line that goes over the tip of his beak, instead of the toothbrush mustache he was last seen in. The hair at the side/back of his head also pokes out weirdly, looking like it's growing back from being shaved.
  • There's something very wrong with the way Dolf walks in the warehouse scene.
  • King Incognito: Prince Shallaman of Salem has been jailed by Yil authorities when he tried to break into the palace grounds in disguise. They don't recognize him but would propably shoot him anyway f they did.
  • Cliffhanger: The episode ends with Alfred, Stoppel, Kells, and Shallaman sitting in prison and facing an uncertain but bleak situation.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The whole plot seems like an allegory to the Arab-Israeli conflict. The holy city is literally called "Yilsalem".
  • Dub Name Change:
    • Yil is Jalla in the finnish dub.
    • In the finnish dub, Salem is Salam
    • Stoppel's ship is named Aurinkoinen ("sunny") in the finnish dub, and Sunshine in the english dub.
    • Professor Kells is called doctor Nalli in the finnish dub.
  • High-Class Glass: Dolf sports one.
  • Unexpected Character: This is Dolf's first real appearance after the Crows' Party arc (episode 33 was a dream), he has a new career, and he has barely anything to do with the plot which is by itself surprising.
  • Small Role, Big Impact: Dolf makes a weapons sale and goes away for the rest of the arc. However this sale is what gets Alfred, Von Paljas, and Kells arrested by Yil authorities.
