Basic Trope: Ever single male character in a piece of work has tons of muscles.

  • Straight: In the Life and Times of Alice and Bob every single male character is buff.
  • Exaggerated: Everyone is buff, even the women and children.
  • Downplayed: While most male characters have tons of muscles, some male characters have Geek Physiques
  • Justified:
    • Everyone in the main cast is a barbarian, muscles come with the package.
    • The story takes place on a 7G planet. note
  • Inverted: Every single male character is a thin as a beanstalk.
  • Subverted: Alice, visiting a barbarian town expected this, only for there to be a variety of body types.
  • Double Subverted: That is, except when the town's local McGuffin is activated, making all the men there ridiculously buff and strong.
  • Parodied: Bob and his friends, never visits the gym, and they live a life of eating junk food, yet all of them look like WWE champions.
  • Zig Zagged: Troperia and Wikistan are largest and most populous countries in the story with each covering a whole continent, as well as the only countries with such a high average level of muscle hypertrophy, and most of the story arcs occur there. However, the occasional arcs that occur elsewhere show that the rest of the world's population is far less buff on average.
  • Averted: The men in Life and Times of Alice and Bob all have a variety of body shapes.
  • Enforced:
    • The artist only knows how to draw one body type for male characters.
    • Every single male NPC uses the same model, and all the important male characters are buff anyways.
  • Lampshaded: "Daddy, can you tell me how you got such muscles?" "Sure son, all you need to do is wait till 18, after that you will be drafted into the army anyways and gain such biceps throughout the battling."
  • Invoked: The General doesn't want any slacking soldiers, so he placed them through the same hell he went through as a wee boy.
  • Exploited: Realizing this, The Empire automatically drafts boys into the army the second they turn 18.
  • Defied: Bob and a few others manage to weasel their way out of every single physical activity.
  • Discussed: "Wait, why is everyone here buff? Must it be because of our lifestyle?"
  • Conversed: "Oh, a bunch of shirtless muscular male characters on this movie cover, either there is a justification, or it is all blatant fanservice"
  • Implied: Rob, Bob's uber-muscular counterpart from another dimension, offhandedly mentions that he is baffled by how thin on average the men in Bob's dimension are.
  • Deconstructed:
    • The world operates on Might Makes Right, forcing the men to continuously fight for resources since the amount of food they require is egregious and they are very vulnerable to malnutrition, and are highly likely to starve to death when deprived of food for even a few days, much more quickly than a normal human would.
    • The lack of body fat causes them to suffer from various forms of Lipodystrophy more often.
    • The muscles become such a deal breaker in human culture, that the few thin or otherwise insufficiently buff men are ostracized from society.
    • Their muscles grant humans such ridiculous Super-Strength that they become the apex predators without ever needing the invent weapons to hunt food or otherwise be threatened by other predator species, effectively keeping humans stuck in the Stone Age.
  • Reconstructed:
    • New farming methods enable producing an abundance of food that covers everyone's needs.
    • The wider masses are given dietary education and free recipes that help maintain a healthy amount of fat in the body.
    • Society gradually embraces the non-muscular few.
    • Bored from their invincibility, humans start spending their free time using their Super-Strength to reshape stone, wood and animal bones with their bare hands, gradually paving the way for the creation of arts and crafts, which culminates in a Stone Punk world.
  • Played For Laughs: Technologically far superior aliens are set to reach the planet in just a few years to conquer it. As they lack both the scientific and magical means to counter the impeding alien invasion, the whole human population of the planet Earth undergoes Training from Hell in a last ditch effort, effectively converting the planet into an open-air gym. Once the aliens finally arrive they are terrified to see humans look radically different then in their most recent reports. Humanity then proceeds to comically curb-stomp the alien invaders à la Asterix in an epic Rock Beats Laser moment.
