Go To

Basic Trope: Someone escapes from Hell.

  • Straight: Bob ends up dying and going to Hell, and manages to find a way out.
  • Exaggerated: Bob gathers up everyone else who is currently condemned to Hell and gets all of them out.
  • Downplayed:
    • Bob ends up escaping Hell and simply becoming The Undead afterwards.
    • Bob mostly just leaves Hell.
  • Justified:
    • Bob wasn't supposed to go to Hell for whatever reason.
    • Escaping from Hell is possible, and Bob knew it.
    • Bob is just that awesome.
  • Inverted:
    • Satan gets tired of Bob and makes him leave Hell.
    • For some reason, Bob tries to get into Hell.
    • Bob escapes from Heaven.
  • Subverted:
    • Bob is about to escape from Hell, but Satan stops him.
    • Bob appears to have escaped, but then it turns out that he attained spiritual enlightenment on the journey and was actually let free by God.
  • Double Subverted: He successfully escapes later.
  • Parodied:
  • Zig-Zagged: Bob repeatedly decides in favor of and against escaping from Hell.
  • Averted: Nobody ever goes to, or escapes from, Hell in the first place.
  • Enforced: As a way of resurrecting Bob.
  • Lampshaded: ???
  • Invoked: ???
  • Exploited: Bob gains demonic powers after his stay in Hell, which he uses to his advantage.
  • Defied: Satan tries to get Bob to stay in Hell.
  • Discussed: ???
  • Conversed: ???
  • Implied:
    • It's not specified if the place Bob escaped from is in Hell, but it's a very fiery place with a Big Red Devil.
    • Bob is in Hell, and in subsequent scenes is shown to have left Hell with no explanation.
  • Played for Laughs: Bob escapes hell by aggressively taunting Satan and forcing him to read the Bible, causing Satan to get annoyed and throw him out of Hell.
  • Played for Horror: Bob was a very evil person when he died, and now that he's turned into a demon after being in Hell, well...

Back to Escaped from Hell... oh, great, the demons got out again!
