The story opens with a familiar scene. Four young people are going about their daily lives in Japan, when a magic circle and a flash of light whisks them away to a throne room, where the people await a hero….And that is where the formula is changed. The Demon King the Hero is presumed to face? He was defeated centuries ago. The corrupt aristocracy and overzealous religions? They are nonexistent. How about the conflicts between the three main races of the world? Nope. No matter where you look, the world is at peace.

So, why was a Hero summoned? Why, to take part in a festival to honor the original Hero who had made all this peace possible! Unfortunately, the summoning overshot and grabbed three other people in the vicinity of the Hero, and none of them can return to their original world until one year has passed. Thankfully, time flows differently between worlds, and all of the others from the summoning are granted luxurious lodgings for the duration of their time here.

Thus, one of those others, Kaito Miyama, begins his time in another world, making new friendships, seeing new wonders, and experiencing all that the new world has to offer.

I Was Caught Up In A Hero Summoning, But That World Is At Peace is a Web Serial Novel written by Toudai, originally published on Shousetsuka ni Narou in 2016. It was later picked up a year later for Light Novel publication with illustrations by Ochau, and has a manga adaptation by Jiro Heian. The manga adaptation is currently licensed by Seven Seas Entertainment for English publication.

This Story contains examples of:

  • Came Back Strong: Sieg, heavily injured against Megiddo’s servants, ends up using the Fruit of the World Tree that Kaito gave her, fully restoring her and even boosting her beyond her original limits.
  • Did We Just Have Tea with Cthulhu?: ALL THE TIME. Kaito is practically a magnet for all the major powers of the world, all of whom seem to enjoy visiting him and hanging out, much to the stress and horror of literally everyone else. Lilia especially gets stressed by all this, since Kaito is lodging at HER home.
  • Heart Is an Awesome Power: Kaito’s Sympathy Magic allows him to acclimate to and understand basically everything. While that doesn’t sound too amazing, it allows him to nonchalantly interact with incredibly powerful beings who would send normal people running in utter terror (if they could move at all). Moreover, it allows him to have a sort of Combat Precognition by reading the moves of his opponent.
  • Manic Pixie Dream Girl: Less manic, but Kuromeina fits the bill. Not only is she Kaito’s first true friend in the Other World, but she helps him get more interested and involved in the life of said world.
  • My Greatest Failure: Lilia believed Sieglinde’s throat injury and subsequently loss of her voice is hers, since it was the result of political meddling to “help” Lilia. Despite Sieg not blaming her for the incident, it still weighs on Lilia. Which makes her ecstatic when Sieg regains her voice thanks to Kaito’s Fruit of the World Tree.
  • Reforged into a Minion: Less minion, more ally. The bear that nearly killed Kaito during the Forest Tournament is later transformed into his bear-girl servant and bodyguard Anima.
  • Trademark Favorite Food: Kuromeina’s are baby castellas.
