Camp 30 is a Children's Spy novel by Eric Walters, and the sequel to Camp X.

Some time has passed since George and his older brother Jack tried to help foil a Nazi attack on Camp X, and life seems to have returned to relative normalcy, outside of no one being allowed to know what happened. They've returned to the paper route, and Jack's arm will be out of its cast soon. Still, it's so hard to believe the mortal danger they were in.

Then they've been informed that they will be moving to Bowmanville, Ontario, because their mom got a new job at Camp 30 as Colonel Armstrong's new administrative assistant. Apparently Bill's team intercepted a coded message revealing that the boys now have Nazi assassins on their tail, so they needed a change of scenery to keep them safe.

The boys soon find themselves with a new job as well: delivering mail to the prisoners in the camp, which they discover is practically a five-star resort for the prisoners (which is apparently done to discourage them from trying to escape, even though the prisoners are duty-bound to attempt). While there, they meet and befriend a German soldier named Otto Kretschmer, who becomes very chummy with them. Of course, he is still a German Soldier, and as much as he likes the boys, he still has his own plans, which the boys may have to foil.

The book was published on July 1st, 2005.

Camp 30 contains examples of:

  • Gilded Cage: Camp 30 is pretty much this. The prisoners are allowed total freedom of movement, eat food that's rationed everywhere else for the war effort, and can even leave the prison unattended if they want because they promise to return. Of course, they still recognize that it's a prison, just a really luxurious one. Otto even outright calls it a "gilded cage".
  • Great Escape: The German prisoners have a plan for one. They dug an underground passage in one of the buildings, through which Otto and three others would escape. Some time later, 300 more soldiers would follow.
  • Miniature Senior Citizen: While getting a soda from a grocery store, George and Jack meet a man working there described as "small and wrinkled and his voice quavered with age".
  • Old Soldier: The security team of Camp 30 is composed of older folks who saw action in World War I, and were members of the V.G.C. (Veteran Guards of Canada).
  • The Place: Like the last book, this one is named after the titular camp.
  • POW Camp: Camp 30, of course.
  • Secret Underground Passage: Jack and George end up being sent through one with Otto and his fellow escapees after getting caught.
