Eve's mission is disastrously compromised; Carolyn leaves Eve's future in her own hands.

Tropes in this episode:

  • Cliffhanger: As a season finale, of course.
    • Unlike in season 1, where we saw Villanelle move after the attempted killing, we do not see Eve move here.
    • Also, last time we saw Niko, he is still locked in the storage unit with Gemma's murdered body.
  • Bleed 'Em and Weep: When Raymond threatens both Eve and Villanelle. Freaking out, Eve hits him in the head with an axe twice. Villanelle is amazed at her pulling through. Eve is going to be sick.
  • Disproportionate Retribution: Raymond wants to kill Villanelle simply because he hates her.
  • Heel Realization: Eve has this after escaping with Villanelle. Eve says she is going home. Villanelle tells her she is ruining the moment. Eve asks her what she thinks is happening. Villanelle tries to caress her face but Eve pushes her hand away. She tells Villanelle they are not Bonnie and Clyde, going on a killing spree. Eve thinks Villanelle wants her to be a scared mess, but she's like Villanelle now: not afraid of anything.
  • Hourglass Plot: The season 1 finale ends with Villanelle and Eve in a quiet, intimate moment, which ultimately goes awry and ends with Eve trying to kill Villanelle. The season 2 finale ends with Villanelle and Eve in a quiet, intimate moment, which ultimately goes awry and ends with Villanelle trying to kill Eve.
  • If I Can't Have You…: Angry and hurt by Eve's rejection, Villanelle shoots her.
  • In Love with Your Carnage: It's fair to say that Villanelle is more enamored by Eve's potential for violence than she is by the fact that Eve did it to save her life.
  • Kick the Dog: Eve leaving Hugo behind after he gets shot, as he begs her not to, to find Villanelle instead
  • Oh, Crap!: Villanelle has a subtle one when she recognizes Raymond as Aaron’s potential buyer.
  • Prisoner's Dilemma: Eve and Villanelle both have their handlers urging them to leave the other behind.
    • Eve and Carolyn
      Carolyn: Come on.
      Eve: No.
Carolyn: She wouldn't do the same for you.
      Eve: You don't know that.
    • Villanelle and Konstantin
      Konstantin: Are you leaving?
      Villanelle: No. Not without Eve.
Konstantin: What if she went with Carolyn already?
      Villanelle: She wouldn't.
Konstantin: What is it about her?
      Villanelle: We are the same.
      Konstantin: Are you sure?
      Villanelle: Yeah.
  • Reverse Psychology:
Eve: You sent us here to kill him.
Carolyn: On the contrary, I told you both, repeatedly and strenuously, not to kill him.
  • Season Finale
  • What Is This Thing You Call "Love"?: Inverted Trope. Villanelle insists she understands what love is, but Eve rejects this claim—Property of Love is not a definition of love that Eve agrees with.
    Villanelle: I love you.
    Eve: No.
    Villanelle: I do.
Eve: You don't understand what that is.
    Villanelle: I do. You're mine.
    Eve: No.
    Villanelle: You are! You're mine!
